Somehow, I liked this episode much more then the last one

I think the relationships are more connected with eacht other now and Michiru's last words in this episode let me think of an important change in one of the next episodes~
And it's strange, but I'm worried about Souske beacause of the last scene with the train

Welcome to the forums!
I hope to check out ep. 7 today now that Seri released her subs... should be interesting - I didn't read all the comments before, but sounds like much of the group had similar feelings about it as other recent eps. _________________

And yes, Takeru. Nothing really is going your way, ne? First you bump into "family" and feel anemic afterwards, and then Ruka drops the anvil on you by "going out with" somebody eons older and who you wouldn't even imagine she'd be attracted to (although that's obviously a ruse, but it does sting a little, and more so because of the cup! harsh!), and then of course in the end the person who gets attracted to you is the one person you'd rather have out of the way in your relationship with Ruka. And who knows what will eventually happen to you once Sousuke decides you're also in his way? He just might push you into an oncoming train.
I seem to understand now, really. You'd rather feign being feminine, since being a man and admitting your undying love has obviously brought you a shitload of suffering (but then again, that's already two women in the sharehouse that have come on to you; not just the ones you like, though). As much as it pains you to see people being hurt, maybe, just maybe, you wish you'd just left Michiru alone.
I can now understand why it seems like you keep pulling your hair out. Nerve-wracking.

They still were vague about his past, but he got a landslide sympathy vote that's for sure... Again, the dude's timing, particularly with Ruka, is piss-pitiful... I wonder if that'll really do him in later...

This episode was definitely better than the previous.

It was Takeru's episode, but darn he's suffering. This drama is a bit depressing since everyone's feeling lonely, and everyone's having problems. I want to know the details about Ruka's problem, they seem to drag the events and we aren't getting any more information! Other than that, I'm glad we don't have any Michiru x Sousuke violence.
For a split second I thought Juri-chan was checkin' out Jdorama xD! B's wish was granted at last!

Wow, that Densha Otoko reference did have some revelance after all While it's cool to know Ruka's story will get more depth, it makes me wonder exactly how much we will get with Ruka in Last Friends. I'm just hoping it's not an excuse to leave viewers hanging, waiting until next year to see if Ruka actually does something drastic.
I got around to watching Episode 7 earlier today...

I feel bad for Takeru, especially when Ruka brings along her supervisor on the group trip to the amusement park. Then he has the misfortunate of seeing his sister there, making the trip down depression lane even worse. His attempt to talk to Ruka later on gets strongly rejected.
It just feels like everything is beginning to come apart in this episode, exemplified when Takeru quietly retreats back to his room after seeing Michiru crying in the kitchen. Usually he would lend an ear, offer some comfort, but he was pretty stung by Ruka's reaction earlier. Combine that with Ogurin talking to another woman, making Eri a bit emotional, and maybe this is where things begin to pick up, or go down rather, into chaos leading to that death.
Sousuke still needs some fleshing out, as I'm starting to feel they're milking the scenes with the little boy. Yes, giving Sousuke a gentler side is nice, perhaps he's conflicted inside, but how he got to that point we don't know. That train scene at the end of the episode was kind of lame. As if they'll kill off a guy they still haven't gone in depth with yet. Hard to go for the suspense when it's hard to feel anything for the guy. Even if he just got hurt badly, it'd still be hard to be surprised by it.

Forgive me, I haven't seen Episode 7, but I read the spoilers anyways because I'm a jerk like that. Did Sousuke actually die on-screen?
Because if not...I have this bad feeling that our 'death' is not going to be him, but Takeru, by means of suicide. I mean, he's getting ripped apart left and right, I just have this feeling...

yea it was takeru to feel some pain in episode 7 however i don't think that he would do that type of thing

And what did I say about Sousuke? Now they've gotta try and rebuild him up to be the good guy...
However, it's going to take a heck of a lot more than rescuing an abandoned child at this point. He's gotta rescue a whole pound full of puppies, start a non-profit charity, and donate at least two organs before we'll give him the time of day at this point.
Does anyone else feel sorry for Ruka's coach? I thought that was really unfair of her to do to him, even given his prior actions. She's really a tragic character.. seems she's losing touch with the few things that keep her sane now, too. Like most troubled drama characters, she's absolutely terrible at managing stress...
I was actually angry with her when she took Takeru's mug and gave it to the coach.. I thought that was incredibly insensitive - I actually think she might have done it on purpose to distance Takeru. I think she's angry because he pre-empted her coming-out speech. I think, however, if that was the writer's intention, the director completely dropped the ball in showing it: we didn't get one angry face specifically directed at Takeru.
So how many more we got? 5? 7? Looks like we get some more Eri next time around. She was barely in this one, contrary to my previous hypothesis that they were going to move her to the forefront.
Also.. on this post-Last Friends Ruka-internet-special.. is it just me or does that sound like a commercial ploy. I mean, sure it's a commercial enterprise, but the beauty of Japanese dramas is that they are of fixed length - you control the process of input and output to craft a neatly packaged product. Too many tie-ins and you lose that - it becomes like a kids show or Disney movie, where it's all about selling the lunch box and accompanying video game.
I mean, I'm all for the further, deeper examination of Ruka's gender identity issues, but I would flat out lying if I said I expected they'd actually tackle anything meaningful in such an add on. _________________
