Can anyone summarize the preview for episode 8 (at the end of episode 7) please!!! I'll give you a free calorie cookie in return for the favor.

Welcome to the forums! Smile

I hope to check out ep. 7 today now that Seri released her subs... should be interesting - I didn't read all the comments before, but sounds like much of the group had similar feelings about it as other recent eps.

Ueno Juri to reprise role of Ruka in spinoff show 'Jitensha Josei' in Spring 2009.
Sun, May 25, 2008 (8:03pm EST)

Synopsis: Jitensha Josei tackles issues that afflicts the current generation that we didn't cover in Last Friends. In this direct spin-off of the surprise hit of the Spring, Ruka (Ueno Juri) has become fed up with not being ablt to directly tell her feelings to Michiru (Nagasawa Masami), so she turns to the one thing that everyone in Japan turns to for advise: anonymous forums full of stereotypes and cookie-cutter models of society!

Uchi Hiroki co-stars as a forum troll with a heart of gold.
Source: Nikkan Sports | tokyograph

hehe

Oh...and uhhh...anyone know about this? Saw this on D-Addicts Wiki Page for Last Friends:

Quote:
Immediately after each episode aired, a special spin-off movie centered around Takigawa Eri titled "Eri - my Love" aired on FujiTV On Demand. Although a fee is usually charged, "Eri - my Love" was provided free for one hour after Last Friends aired.

I wonder if this is gonna ever get subbed/released....maybe when the DVDs come out?

Wow, that Densha Otoko reference did have some revelance after all hehe While it's cool to know Ruka's story will get more depth, it makes me wonder exactly how much we will get with Ruka in Last Friends. I'm just hoping it's not an excuse to leave viewers hanging, waiting until next year to see if Ruka actually does something drastic.

I got around to watching Episode 7 earlier today...

So I finally got around to finishing Ep. 7. Definitely better than 6, but so many silly cliches!

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

Big ep. for Takeru and Michiru, actually.. she moved a long way towards becoming a real character again! <gasp>

Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:

So how many more we got? 5? 7? Looks like we get some more Eri next time around. She was barely in this one, contrary to my previous hypothesis that they were going to move her to the forefront.

Also.. on this post-Last Friends Ruka-internet-special.. is it just me or does that sound like a commercial ploy. I mean, sure it's a commercial enterprise, but the beauty of Japanese dramas is that they are of fixed length - you control the process of input and output to craft a neatly packaged product. Too many tie-ins and you lose that - it becomes like a kids show or Disney movie, where it's all about selling the lunch box and accompanying video game.

I mean, I'm all for the further, deeper examination of Ruka's gender identity issues, but I would flat out lying if I said I expected they'd actually tackle anything meaningful in such an add on.
