Ikki Sawamura stars in detective drama

Actor Ikki Sawamura (42) will star in a television drama series next season, titled "Keishichou Shissounin Sousaka." The show is based on a popular series of police novels by author Shunichi Doba. The three volumes released so far have sold an estimated total of 300,000 copies.
Sawamura plays Kengo Takashiro, a police detective who was once a top member of his station's 1st Investigative Division. But his attitude changed ever since his daughter disappeared. Now part of the Missing Persons Division, he carries this deep wound with him as he tackles various cases.
The show's heroine will be Kengo's colleague, the only female detective in the Missing Persons Division. The actress for the part is being chosen through an audition that includes both professionals and amateurs.
"Keishichou Shissounin Sousaka" will be broadcast by TV Asahi on Friday nights at 9:00pm, starting in April.

Hmm, this should be interesting... Sawamura's an underrated actor, IMO.

Sadao Abe, Eriko Sato star in "Rikon Doukyo" drama
Kokko Kashiwaya's manga "Rikon Doukyo" is being adapted as a live-action drama series this spring. NHK plans to broadcast the drama in a Tuesday 10:00pm time slot, starting on May 11.
Comedic actor Sadao Abe (39) is taking on the starring role as a man named Ryuji, while model Eriko Sato (28) plays his wife Harumi. The script is being handled by Mitsuru Tanabe.
The story revolves around a couple, Ryuji and Harumi, who have built a happy life together. One day, Ryuji suddenly declares that he wants a divorce. They separate, but shortly after that, they end up living together again even though they are no longer married.

"Rinjo" returns with sequel
TV Asahi is bringing back the mystery drama series "Rinjo" for a second season this spring. Starring Masaaki Uchino (41), the first season aired between April and June last year and averaged ratings of 14.5%, with a peak of 15.6%.
Uchino is reprising his role as Yoshio Kuraishi, a police coroner with extraordinary perception and a knack for spotting evidence. The story is originally based on a novel by popular author Hideo Yokoyama.
TV Asahi will broadcast the sequel in the same Wednesday 9:00pm time slot, starting in April.
