1. | Comments by Susan [Rating: 10/10] This beautiful drama was a masterpiece and a wonderful final project for the late Ogata Ken, who was one of the finest actors the world has ever seen. This drama showed true human emotion and the struggle every person has with both life and death. It was graceful, calm, yet heart-breaking. Every moment was tinged with emotion and the characters were so well-played. My favorite scene was the final encounter between Gaku and his father, or rather the Archangel Gabriel, his one true friend. It was a stunning and tragic scene very well-played by the actors and I cried. I knew from the beginning how this series would end, but a part of me still hoped for a miracle. |
2. | Comments by EstherM [Rating: 7/10] I have a soft spot for child actor Kamiki Ryunosuke, and boy does he shine in this drama. I have to admit that despite the stunning Hokkaido sceneries and a wonderful performance by the late Ogata Ken, I couldnLt really get into this. My favourite scenes were the ones with Gaku (Kamiki) and there were too few in the first 4, 5 episodes. Recommened but not perfect. |
3. | Comments by Eyeyore [Rating: 5/10] The cast was good but the whole family relationship was very stiff and formal. The script and filming give me the impression that it was written in a rush. The main theme sounds like a requiem and so this really reminds me of Leo Tolstoy's Ivan Illyich. Only one thing gives it a spark : the funeral prank. And that's ironic. |
4. | Comments by williu [Rating: 7/10] An extremely beautiful, touching and moving story. A very well written, well played and well directed drama. But, in spite of (or rather because of) all those great qualities, it has a tendency to be very slow and even boring at times. Either you love it, or you just don't get involved I think... |
5. | Comments by gaijinmark [Rating: 8/10] The terminal illness plot has been done so many times, and there's really not that much new here. But based on the perfomances of Ryunosuke Kamiki and Ken Ogata, giving this an 8. |

7. | Comments by bobspelledbqwrds [Rating: 8/10] I love Kuramoto Sou, his style and visions. I like what he has to say about life. His morals are shown heavily in this drama. |
8. | Comments by Bbbut [Rating: 4/10] average - great actors and all but it just lacks conflict, every problem is quickly resolved with no twist or anything |
