Watched the Movie with the same title. The movie was @ least more than 18 years+ ago. Great show then. So I was looking forward to the new SATOMI HAKENDAN.
The story is more or less the same, but the flow and charcther relationship is totally different. The previous one is more myth-like and bloody while the later is more logical and funny.
Like both anyway. BTW, ���{���� casted in both old & new. His character in the old movie was ���ːM�T���F, but he was not the lead then. The lead for the old movie was ���]�e���q�m casted by �^�c���V who was �ʈ� 2nd son. Plus the ending of the old version was sad & with a English song....huh??
Anyway, the point is, both shows are very interesting n nice, but I like the new version better cos it had a good ending. All ppl lived, only bad ppl died, the only good souls that died are ���ԗR�I�b, �n���ĘY & �w���F��.

too good to miss.
a story about 8 chosen warriors set with a destiny to save the country of "satomi" from impending doom resulting from a curse. the story starts off with the cursing, and then the princess sacrificing her life to save her country. her will carries 8 marbles to 8 different warriors who must come together and unite to defeat the evil that plagues the country of satomi. outstanding cast who each deliver a magnificent performance, especially kanno miho (sooo evil .. ^_^), nakama yukie is very elegant in her small yet pivotal role as the princess. ayase haruka plays the token damzel in distress very well and takizawa hideaki is quite impressive (as always) and his skills with the sword fresh off yoshitsune make all the action look very real. the action choreography in general is awesome with all the 8 samurai very believable, so are the visual effects.

This special has a pleasing set of actors and an engaging energy, but it's the kind of story that needs to be seen from the beginning, no cheating. Heavy on effects and dependent on supernatural goings-on, we watch as a fabled group of "dog warriors" gather together to fight forces of dynasty. It's likable and fairly predictable, pitched for the 16 to 24 age range, but could have been more original.

A rather star-studded cast for this period special. Having watched all of the many eps of Inu Yasha (anime), this felt very much like a typical episode so there were no surprises in the plot. There were a number of special effects which sometimes felt too intrusive although as a whole, it was an OK drama. I saw a movie series many many years ago as a kid and never knew the name of it. I only remembered the dog, marbles, and some magic. I was looking for that old movie and came across this one. I'd like to find the old one but I thought the story was worth watching and I was not disappointed at all. Makes me want to look into more folk tales and heros. The story is quite interesting but casting of the leading role is a disappointment. Despite his good looks, Tackey is not a suitable actor to act as a samurai. He is too short (sorry !) and his face is too pretty. The last scene also proves that he is far priettier than the princess bride ! A very good movie. Great interesting cast. The story made me curious, so I wanted to watch it. But originally, I watched it because of Takizawa, Nakama and Shoon.
The story is interesting about finding the eight dog warriors and make peace over Satomi Kingdom by making end to the evil curse that Kanno Miho had spread. The movie is around three and a half hours long. I don't think it was either too long or too short. It was perfect to make the movie good enough. I either didn't think that the story felt like only dragging or something. It went on smoothly and nicely. There were nice effects on fightings and it was cool and looked real.. Really good acting.

A good series to start off the new year. It had high production values with an all-star cast: Takizawa Hideaki, Watabe Atsuro, Nakama Yukie, Kanno Miho, Ayase Haruka too name a few. The story itself was a fairy-tale epic about a princess who wishes to save her land.
The special was only 2 episodes long so the action progressed fairly quickly. Acting was done well, although the fighting scenes were a little odd for a few parts. I found that the fight on the roof in particular between Oshio Manabu (ninja) and Takizawa Hideaki (samurai) was a little Crouching-Tiger-ish minus the good sword fighting, but you can't blame them.

i've enjoyed this 2 epi drama as much as i could !!! haa ~~ "Satomi Hakenden" has amazing and great casts !!! Takki perfomed really well in it ! was amazed by his acting skills ~ Kanno Miho suprised me the most ! compared to the soft characters she acted in he previous dramas ~ this is soooooo evil and scary !! the way she speaks and laugh really made the viewers shivers ~ as for Shoon .. for first timers in acting , he was good !! Was really bored for the first part... felt that things happened too slow and half the show seemed to be merely introducing characters who you know were kind of just making up the numbers. Nevertheless, the later parts picked up a little so saved it from being a complete waste of time. A curse that threatens the existence of the country of Satomi is on the verge of being uplifted, if only the eight warriors can band together to save the country in time. I liked the SFX, I liked many of the performances. This all star cast delivered an excellent show! An enjoyable special with many familiar faces. As a fan of Inu Yasha, this drama special had a rather predictable plot but was nevertheless well done. I have to say, Tackey and Shoon look awesome with long hair. The storyline is really interesting, and the actors all act well. Scenes with all the action/fighting are awesome, especially Tackey and his super acting skills. Since, this drama comes in two parts, it seems pretty short and a little rushed.
