I caught the first episode of Samurai Champloo...that's an awesome show...animated samurai drama set to hip-hop with a sword toting Okinawan...you can't lose.

Its not like that Ghost in the Shell on cartoon network....I think cartoon network aired a Ghost in the Shell serie....but i thought it was garbage :bleh:
I like Ghost in the Shell, both movie and series. The series might be a little "dry" for some folks taste, it gets complicated enough that they have to do a fair amount of talky exposition at times. But I liked it. It's not completely brainless like most SF anime. As being speculative fiction depicting futuristic cybernetics, it's really pretty cool.

That's cool.
That's what I like about Anime vs. the animated stuff made here in the States: it's not about cutesy, street-wise, wise-cracking animals, but about more serious, thought-provoking issues...

Didnt realize you were an anime fan too, Beemer.
I have to agree with you sadly. Animation is hugely limtied in the States.
And a story like Hana Yori Dango is hard to imagine being done here with all its soft abstract backgrounds.
Is HYD anyone else's favorite? :woot: :woot:

Wow, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is one of my most favorite anime shows ever. Garbage is a harsh word.

Yikes! You may need to have a few repeat viewings. It took me about three to start pinning down all the philisophical under pinnings to the show. Reading the manga helped.

Sure am. I can really appreciate the artwork too, since I used to be an art major.
Love the stuff from Studio Ghibli. It's not just anime, but legitimate movies like Casablanca, The Godfather, Singin' in the Rain, etc...

Calm down, bud, I'm not gonna send over a death squad if the movie tanks from my viewpoint... :hehe:
gits movie and gits innocence is okay; but i actually prefer the tv series gits stand alone complex.

Not favorite, but I did like it a lot. It's an oldie but goodie. Like Maison Ikokku. Too few animes these days have really good stories and characters like that.
I should have said "a favorite"
Thats what Ive found recently. In these last couple years nothing like HYD, Fruits BAsket or Kare Kano have come out. :puppydog: :shamefulcry:
And while I love a good fighting anime, there's nothing like a great drama!! :hehe: :hehe: :hehe: .
Of course there is also nothing quite like Kenshin!!

My bad for using the word "garbage"....i jus didn't find it all that great

Do you mean Kenshin? or another anime?
I think if Kenshin isnt watched from the first episode straight on through it is hard to truly appreciate. Of course the fansubbed version was hugely superior to the commercial dvds.
:shakehead: :shakehead:
Crazy fan of Gundams. Been watching very darn Universal Century and Alternate Century series since young. Now the latest is SEED Destiny I believe. Hoping that at least for once, a U.C. series will come out... (enough of the A.C. series already!~)
Initial D, Evangelion, Bleach, Trigun, Peacemaker Kurogane, Sentou Yousei Yukikaze, Soukyuu No Fafner, Macross, Onegai Twins... mostly boyish jap animes. :P
Just hoping that Wangan Midnight would be out on the animation scenes man. Great racing manga...
