Hmm, coming back at those mediocre anime-game conversions:
Samurai Champloo on PS2: verdict: crap. the loading times really break this game, presentation is nice, but you get to play like 5mins, it has to load 10 times in between to show movies, cutscenes what not. Couldn't play this for more than 15mins: stay away from this game. Not even diehard Samurai Champloo fans will like this.
on the other hand,
Naruto Ultimate Ninja (PS2) is a highly enjoyable game, it reminds me of Powerstone (Dreamcast). You get to run around the stage, on different levels you can smash stuff to give you powerups, food, chakra upgrades, weapons. Really good fun. Then there are the special chakra skills (3 different ones available according to your chakra bar level) yup, Naruto's harem jitsu is there, Kakashi's Chidori, Rock Lee's forbidden technique. Lots of em are in there. Nice thing is that you have to press button combos to actually make it hit 100% damage, and on the receiving end you can decrease damage by getting the buttons correct. I can recommend this to any Naruto fan.

That Samurai Champloo game really turned me off. :shakehead: I hate the load times the most. It really takes you out of the game's pace. Every time you enter a new area, get a new scene, the loading screen suddenly appears. Don't even bother to try it out.
I think the Naruto Ultimate Ninja is a great game, though I haven't played the English version, but I've played the Japanese version. It's called Narutimate Hero in the Japanese version. The second and third installment of the game is even better. More moves, more characters. :victory: Haven't played that for a while though, since all I've been playing recently are racing games, since I bought a new steering wheel. I'm waiting for the D1 Grand Prix game to be released. I hope it's good. :fingerscrossed:

2 deny fatal blows in Xbox slayings By RON WORD, Associated Press Writer
Thu Jul 20, 6:26 PM ET
Two men charged with murdering six people in a revenge slaying over an Xbox video game system testified Thursday that they hit some of the victims with baseball bats, but denied inflicting the fatal blows.
Jerone Hunter and Michael Salas, both 20, told jurors they participated in the attacks, but did not hit any of the victims in the head.
Troy Victorino, a 29-year-old believed to be the ringleader, has also denied culpability. He testified Wednesday that he was innocent and was at a bar with friends during the killings in August 2004.
Blood from three of the victims was found on Victorino's boots, a DNA expert testified this week. Salas and Hunter previously told authorities they had beaten some of the victims.
But Salas, his voice breaking, testified Wednesday that "I did not kill anybody in that house. I didn't hit anybody in the head. I did not hit anybody in the face. I'm not guilty. I had no blood on me."
Salas and Hunter testified they were intimidated by Victorino, a 6-foot-7, 270-pound former prison inmate with a violent criminal record. Prosecutor John Tanner repeatedly asked Salas why he didn't leave when he learned of the slaying plans.
"If I didn't help (Victorino), he would probably hurt me, too," Salas said.
Hunter, a star wrestler in high school, said he did not know they were going to the Deltona house to kill the victims, two of whom he knew. He said he thought they were picking up the Xbox and other items the defendants had left behind when they were evicted as squatters in another home belonging to a grandmother of one of the victims, Erin Belanger.
Victorino kicked in the front door, then entering the house yelling, "Where's my stuff?" Hunter testified. He said Victorino started swinging when victim Jonathan Gleason, 17, replied, "I don't know."
Victorino hit Gleason from behind with a bat, on top of his head, Hunter said.
Hunter said Victorino was the only attacker who went into a bedroom where Belanger, 22, and her boyfriend were sleeping. The two died from strikes to their heads, and Belanger was sexually mutilated, autopsies found.
Salas also testified about Hunter attacking two victims. Of one victim, Salas said, "He started hitting him and hitting him and he wouldn't stop."
A few minutes after the attackers left, Victorino said he wanted to go back to the house, Hunter testified. He said Victorino entered alone with a switchblade knife and returned a few minutes later, wiping blood on his shirt.
Medical examiner Thomas Beaver has testified that the victims died from the bat attacks and that most of the stabbing and cutting came after they died.
The three defendants are each charged with six counts of first-degree murder.
A fourth man, Robert A. Cannon, 20, pleaded guilty in October in a deal with prosecutors. But when he took the stand last week, he refused to testify and said he wanted to withdraw his plea. The judge has not decided whether he will allow it.
During his testimony Thursday, Hunter described seeing Cannon fighting with one of the victims and striking him.

a more descriptive article re: the incident
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Almost two years ago, the world was shook with the horror which took place in the Central Florida town of Deltona where a gang of ex-convicts beated and stabbed to death several victims, just because one of them had taken the leader's of the gang Xbox video game and some clothing from her grandparents' vacant home where he had been squatting.
This happened in August 2004. Today, the trial of those charged with first degree murder is finally starting, in St. Augustine, as the small town of Deltona couldn't have dealt with the attention of the media and all the hype surrounding this case.
Even if the case has been given so much attention due to the role the Xbox gaming console had in this affair, the convicts are Troy Victorino, 29, Michael Salas, 20, and Jerone Hunter, 20, all with criminal records and years spent behind bars. According to the Associated Press, Victorino spent eight of the last 11 years in prison. The horrid attack ended with the violent death of Erin Belanger, 22, Michelle Nathan, 19, Francisco Ayo-Roman, 30, Anthony Vega, 34, Roberto Gonzales, 28, and Jonathan Gleason, 17. The defendants are facing six counts of first-degree murder, five counts of mutilating a dead human body, and other felonies.
so the xbox has nothing to do with the incident at all I guess? could have easily been a PS2, or a gamecube or insert any machine name...don't know what the big deal is...
