Looks like keeping my existing number won't be a problem: most services are more than willing to take in a new customer and help with the changeover for free... :)
I'm a prepaid cell guy. I don't spend most of my time on the phone so paying a monthy fee for me is insane. I was with ATT prepaid for years then Cingular bought them. I was paying 12.5 cents a minute.
Cingular kept pestering me to switch to their unbelievable rip off GO phone; you get .10 a minute but the first call of the day costs you $1 plus .10 a minute. So since I talk a few minutes each day the annual cost is over $365.
Now they finally pulled the plug on the old ATT prepaid plan. So I pulled the plug on Cingular....
Switched to NET10. Incredible. Love it so far. Not a single problem. a flat .10 minute. No monthy or hidden fees. And the reception is strong where before I could not receive in places like the gym. I understand they rent the phone lines from Cingular.... And I had heard that Cingular had created intentional problems for former ATT prepaid plan subscribers to get them to switch to their rip off plan.
What a joke... now I have the Cigngular network for .10 a minute....

I'm buying the cellphone as a phone, not as an mp3 player. :shakehead:
Hear hear. I have an mp3 player, a portable DVD player and a phone. It's been my experience that multifunction devices rarely if ever give you the perfection and quality I need to have for each function that I want. When I want music, my mp3 player is unbeatable just as is my phone for calling and my DVD player for visual enjoyment of 9" display instead of the pigmy size in multiple use devices. :dancing: :dancing:
