Question for Oyabin: How do typical (non-Smappies) Japanese view Kudo Shizuka? I always thought she had a fairly good reputation. Does she have a bad rep like Matsuda Seiko?

I havenft posted message here for a week because I am not interested in Kimuraes private life and I donft have a knowledge about Shizuka enough to post here.
Matsuda Seiko was far more popular than Kudo shizuka as a singer. Seiko had a kind of bad reputation, however, she still has many long time fans and many of them are women. She was a typical idol accepted by the public.
On the other shizuka was one of popular singers in Japan almost 15-20 years ago. But most of her fans were boys including Kimura. (I heard he was a huge Shizuka fan at that time.) And Shizuka tended to be loved by so-called yankees(delinquent youngsters).
Now, Shizuka rarely releases CD and even if she released, I donft hear any news about her except Kimura-related news. I think she is now recognized only as Kimura's wife.
Please donft get any wrong idea that I am jealous with shizuka. :fingerscrossed:
As Kimura is my g5-banh , I donft care a lot whoever his wife is.
I heard she was very good at cooking and was taking care of her children well. I think she is a good wife for him.

Ok I hope to start another new topic... because this one has been going on for too long. Continue if you want, but this is hopefully something for those who are not interested in Kimura's private life at all.

I feel like now there are two types of Johnny. The first type is the "Old" type of Johnny, which is everyone from SMAP to Kinki Kids. Then there's the "Young" breed of Johnny, which is everyone from T&T to... I don't know what they have now? Hey Say 7 or something?

Anyway, my point is, KAT-TUN is supposedly the new SMAP....... WHAT ARE YOUR VIEWS ON THIS? KAT-TUN's popularity is really rising like a meteorite now.

AND THAT KAME IS THE NEXT KIMUTAKU. Well, I'm quite sure there are some Kame haters over here. I like Kame, but Kame's acting is becoming a lot like Kimura's!!!! I really think Kame secretly watches every Kimutaku drama at home, memorises Kimura's facial expressions, worships Kimura etc. Kame is even starting to wear the Kimura bracelet REGULARLY... and those who notice Kimura would know that it's Kimura's signature bracelet cuff. Kame copying Kimura was quite obvious in Nobuta, and VERY VERY OBVIOUS in Tatta. You can view the Jdorama Tatta's thread, quite a few people mentioned that including me.

But I think.... honestly.... Kame has what it takes to be the next Kimutaku, but he has to get a style of his own. Kimura himself has been said to be very fond of Kame, as Kame is hardworking and likes surfing too. Kimura mentioned on WUS that he has only two other Johnnys' telephone numbers - Tsuyoshi from Kinki Kids and Kame from Kat-tun. Kimura also mentioned he doesn't even have Nakai's number.

I'm sorry if I seem to always talk about Kimura only!! :bonk: I'm kinda out of the SMAP phase now, moving onto other interests and other groups, but I'd forever be in the Kimura phase. I can't get out of it.

Hmm,, I also prefer they do the Bowling Special, too.. As this's bored,, especially in the middle part,, when the guest are asked to guess who do plastic surgery and whose salary raise up the most for a year time.. LOL,, I almost sleep.. The guy who win the highest salary man is the one who shown up in Utaban with Utada Hikaru as the guest huh?? If I'm not mistaken.. And those woman who did plastic surgery,, hmm,, thatz too over,, ne?? They use that much money just to become prettier?? Oh god.. But I alwayz wonder,, why must man alwayz like to change themselves to a woman?? Hmm,,,

The Ping Pong is exciting though,, haha,, Tamori san is so funny,, and Nakai keep complaining about him,, not really understand what they say.. Oh~~ I wonder why Fukuyama-san din join this game,, he must be very kakkoii in it..

Shooting Part,, reminds me of Goro-chan who did that a year ago,, whoa~~ He's really kakkoii,, have a nice shot ne.. But this time,, only one guy who was able to hit the 200 points.. Zannen ne~~ And I expect that Kou Shibasaki will do better,, demo,, demo,, only 10 points.. Her reactions are funny,, she took off her high heels immediately,, saying that those are spoilers... Ahaha~~ :hehe: Nakai-kun should do this,,

The last part,, wow,, Ueto Aya is that strong ne.. Haha,, that surprise me..

Elaine, actually I love "IiTomo SP" a bit more than "Nakai's Bowling". But the last "IiTomo Autumn SP" had such boring games!!>_< Urrh... I wonder who's the staff for the SP this time... it was such a failure.

I just finished watching "IiTomo Spring SP" April this year, the one with Kanno Miho, Yamapi, Nagasawa Masami, etc. And that one was HILLARIOUS!!!! The most memorable part from this SP is HOW EMBARASSING KANNO MIHO IS!!!! My God, she's making a fool of herself... I wonder how many spare nerves she got xD She actually did one chorus of DJ Ozma, instead of just pass it. Then in the boxing game, her chest cloth kept slipping down, and Nakai had to protect her from the camera... kept telling her, "Your chest! Your chest!" So hillarious! Haha... Goro must be laughing hard at home to see that, LOL! Nakai still act like an older brother to her, just like old times^^ He kept scolding her thru out the show^^ Funny when Nakai mentioned "Miho-chan", he corrected himself, "Kanno-san"

The Yamapi vs Taguchi boxing match was interesting too! The whole games are very good and well-thought in this Spring SP.

Ahhh~~ I miss SMAP members participating in these IiTomo Specials or Nakai's Bowling. It is always more fun and hillarious when Kimura or Goro or Tsuyoshi or Shingo is also in the games. Nakai would tease them and all. Hopefully next year there's a SMAP member's FujiTV drama :fingerscrossed:

Tomorrow is the SxS Autumn SP!! :woot:

Itz still so far for Kattun to be the new SMAP,, they are just like F4,, the popularity is just high for the first few years,, then drop.. (Thatz only my personal opinion)

As for Kame,, I think he's a copycat.. Yea,, some of his styles are alike Kimura-kun.. But doesnt mean that he's the next..

Gomen zephyr,, my opinion is totally opposite as yours... Coz when I heard that someone / some group is compare with SMAP or one of the members,, I really feel that those really dun have the qualifications... If one day,, someone really become the next SMAP,, then maybe I'll surrend..

Ne,, Me too alwayz non-stop talking about Nakai-kun,, so,, daijyoubu kana~~ u can continue with ur Kimura-kun talks... :D

Hmm.. what I meant was that Kame's style that is similar to Kimura is what is going to PREVENT him from being the next Kimutaku. Because to make it to the top, you really have to have your own style. That's the only part of Kame I really do not like.

Yeah, it is without a doubt that I agree no one can ever replace Kimura.

those were my favorite parts! i didn't expect her to get that into it! i was disappointed with her appearance on nakai's bowling sp because there wasn't that much special interaction between her and nakai. however, this ii tomo pleasantly surprised me. especially the part where nakai was trying to cover her when her shirt was slipping. my thought was "ah, nakai ni-san is helping to protect his sister-in-law" hahaha.

to be honest, i don't know if anybody, je's or non-je's, will ever reach a level similar to takuya's. he's sort of a phenomenon. you don't have to be his fan to say that either. sometimes i wonder what his hollywood celebrity counterpart would be but i can't really come up with one. there are many heartthrobs in hollywood but not one of them dominates over the others. you can argue that brad pitt did for a while but he wasn't automatically ratings gold like kimura. just because brad pitt was in a movie it didn't necessarily mean it was going to be a hit. so i wonder if there will be somebody that dominates the heartthrob role, is a ratings-king, gets crazy endorsements, known by almost everyone in the country, and also at the top in the music charts (well this is partly smap's credit but kimura is a part of smap)

but to be honest, i don't like the discussion being so focused on kimura. this IS a smap thread and i feel like kimura gets discussed a lot every where else already so i kind of prefer talking about other members.

Haha, that really was the best Iitomo SP. There were lots of little surprising moments, too like Gori placing 2nd in the chibiko husband ranking between two Johnnies and the short guy from Bakusho Mondai beating the crap out of Matsuda Shota in the boxing game. Of course Kanno Miho was the highlight. That really changed my opinion of her. She was such a kawaii dork I can't help but be pro-Miho after watching her make a spectacle of herself :hehe:

There isn't a Hollywood counterpart to Takuya or SMAP and there probably never will be. American entertainers are too rigidly categorized into one type of medium: film actor, tv actor, singer, comedian, etc. Madonna starred in a few successful films back in the day but she'll never be considered an actress. Japanese celebrities are allowed to switch back and forth between whatever field of entertainment they want.

And Yoko commented on Recomen (Kanjani8's radio show) that he felt very tired (AGAIN!) after the recording of Utaban! :hehe: I wonder what kind of torture Taka-san & Nakai-kun inflicted on them this time around...

Hontouuuu~~ Nagisa??? Waa, I'm happy!! Finally! hahaha! You're right... Gosh, Kanno Miho IS a dork, isn't she? :hehe: And she actually admit, she sang one chorus because she loved DJ Ozma so much
There were some female audience screaming, "Miho-chan!!"...ne, I wonder whether they're Miho fans, or Goro fans :hehe:

Yeah, there were so many hillarious moments here... The song-guessing game was the best. They shouldn't have erase this game from the Autumn SP. Nakai looked very much offended when Toda Erika immediately passed DEAR WOMAN! He actually scolded her after the game, "There's so many faults in this group... but first of all, I can't believe you passed Dear Woman!!! I felt our(SMAP) existence is being passed!" ...hahaha, Nakai!

Yeah, I can't believe that Bakusho Mondai guy beat Matsuda Shota :hehe: Nakai even already helped Shota, by holding back that Bakusho guy for some seconds, lol!
Ah sou... I don't have the last part of this show... and IiTomo group was winning! Did they actually win in the end??
Haha... they felt really yabai that they're winning the game, didn't they? Nakai said, that he might get fired if IiTomo really win xD

ladyusagi>> Miho in Nakai's bowling? I think there was some interactions with Nakai... Didn't Nakai keep teasing her, before she throw the ball?^^ But anyway, I realized that Miho is such a dork, from this bowling episode. The way she walks! Gee... xD

Megumi>> If you mean the latest Autumn SP... no need to hurry... the SPRING SP was 10x times better than the last week's Autumn SP x)

Are there more news about SMAP members' dramas? I heard there will be winter dramas with Goro-Takeuchi Yuko and Shingo-Aibu Saki pairings?? Of course, these are just rumours.

Oh, and I also read some rumours of Kimura had been chosen as the leading role candidate (just candidate, though) of NHK Taiga Drama 2009. The script for that Taiga 2009 is decided, set in the 16th century (so, NO half-bald heads  rest assure!) and they're casting the candidates now. Haha... wow, if Kimura is really casted for this... 49 episodes and runs for the whole year

Haha, it wasn't even that the tiny ojisan was really strong or anything either. Shota-kun was soooo surprisingly wimpy

No Iitomo didn't win. The last part was the charades w/mannequin game and they did really badly (probably on purpose) and Hanayome ended up narrowly beating ProDai.

There should be 4 types actually...

1) "Older ones" like SMAP, TOKIO, V6...
2) KinKi Kids - agewise & musicwise, different from the first one...
3) Boys from Johnny's Juniors' Golden Generation, led by Takki, Arashi (I'm not counting their debut year here because Arashi were still clearly from the Golden Generation), Yamapi and Kanjani8, and non-debuting Junior like Toma Ikuta...
4) KAT-TUN (never really there with the Golden Generation boys which is why their popularity baffled me), the other NEWS members, Hey Say JUMP...

I won't touch on the KT subject now because I'm sure gonna rant a lot on why I don't like KAT-TUN and why I think they don't deserve it, but one thing I know for sure. KT won't have a long-lasting popular career like SMAP. SMAP went from having only 100k singles to 1 million singles, they worked from thr bottom up. KT meanwhile, are going down. From 1 million to 500k to only 300k now, their popularity is not gonna last long. KT came from the type of typical Johnnys who had it easy on their debut and sell lots, but end up not doing so good after a few years, after the public shift their attention to newer Johnnys.

In the end, KT can never be SMAP. SMAP worked from the bottom up, KT had always had it easier. KT never knew what it felt like to perform in half-filled stadiums. They never knew what it felt like to have their managers taken away from them. They never knew the real PAIN, and that would be their downfall.

I am now watching Shingo's Waratte iitomo and found Shingo had his hair cut and change the color to brown !! Looks cute.

Yanie, I also heard about Shingo(FUJI TV) and Goro's drama(TBS) from Janualy.
And Kimura and Tsuyoshi's drama will start in April. Kimura's drama is by Fuji TV and TSuyoshi's one is by Fuji or TBS.
Still long time to go and they are just uwasa. :puppydog:
I've not heard about NHK Taiga in 2009. So I read various BBS and found there are many candidates including kimura and tsuyoshi.
e.g. Tamaki koji, Yamamoto Koji, TSumabuki Satoshi and so on.
The cast is possibly announced in the end of this year.

Yeah, I've heard the uwasa about Shingo & Goro's new drama too...Shingo's on Fuji TV Monday co-starring Saki Aibu while Goro's on TBS Sunday, co-starring Yuko Takeuchi...Still uwasa though...

hmm if one of them does do a taiga that's great in that we get to see them year round but then that also means they can't do other dramas, the workload will be increased (remember shingo in 2004?), and it might prevent smap from having a concert. ahh, i'm such a pessimistic person.

Thanks for answering so quickly. I always thought Seiko-chan was much despised. I've never heard a Japanese woman say anything nice about her but that's just in my small pool of family and friends...my nechan still hasn't forgiven her for not marrying Go Hiromi, haha. Sorry for going off-topic.

Kinki shouldn't be separated from the first group though. They're the same age as Coming Century and Nagase and, like Tokio and V6, backed SMAP for quite awhile.

Nice to know Kimura may be in the cast of a taiga starting 2009. He is suited for those historical series.

I like Kat-tun a lot not as much as I love SMAP but among the new Johnny's the Kat-tun is my honey and I am crazy about Jin Akanishi whose voice has a wide range. He is also very handsome and sexy. I haven't really seen Kame act, but so far among the younger Johnnies no one can still lay claim to the title of Takuya as jdorama king.

Really thanks this forum which allowed me to pen my thoughts. All these years i rely on my japanese colleagues in singapore and japan to supply me all those news about kimura san. Anyway thanks for reading my irritating posts, it make my days to post my thoughts here. :woot:

Been pretty busy with work so I can only comment now.
Thanks a lot :applaud: Champagne for your posts. Even though am not the same status as you are (married), I appreciate all you've posted. I've also pondered on those reactions against his wife & came up with the same analysis as you do. Like you, I have Japanese bosses too and through them I have come to know more about Japanese culture, collected stuff 'bout SMAP and it's nice to know there's a sharing person like you to come out with your thoughts. One only get to understand the feeling as you said if one is already in that same situation.

For me, it's fine to voice out your insights . . . you're not enjoining others to have the same views you have, and it is not merely talking about his life & wife, but should I say more of an expression of one's thoughts on not to be conclusive on matters we all have no knowledge of but the person himself. I wish him happiness always with his family because even before when he was still single, it has been written that he didn't want to go home to a dark, cold, empty house after a hard day's work & made me realized why he didn't stay long living alone, since like most people, we need a family.
