wahhh!! arigato!! thank you thank you! takuya's father really is scary... no wonder takuya has become such a strict person too. as in like how he expects perfection out of himself and all. and that part about him showing his black face is soo true! i always realise that his face will suddenly change in the middle of a show and it's hard to see wad he's thinking about. takuya can be kowaii too.

I've written this a long time ago, I think it should be interesting to those who haven't read it:
Kimura's Childhood Story
Kimura was born in Tokyo. The first child of Kimura family and he has 1 younger brother. When he was born, his parents have 2 names to choose for him, Ippei and Takuya. Initially, he was going to be named Ippei, but Kimura's grandmother thinks that Kimura is a common family name. So, he has to be given an ordinary/common name too, hence Takuya was picked.
[I just learned an interesting fact recently, that in Japan, a given name ended with '-pei' or '-hei', like Shinpei, Teppei and also Ippei are usually names for a member of highly regarded/respected/noble family^^ So, Ippei is considered TOO HIGH for Takuya^^]
Kimura grew up in a strict family environment. His father was so strict and prior disciplined over everything. I think, I've once read a WUS report where Kimura told, that one day his father beat him up and scold him, "Why are you crying?? Otoko, darou? BOYS do not cry!". So, Kimura grew up thinking that men are not allowed to cry and have to be strong to face any kind of troubles. We can see where his hard-headed and hard-working traits came from^^ Always likes challenges and also a -never give up- person.
In Ending Talk SxS 3 Feb 2003, the question was "In childhood, what SMAP members usually did that made your parents scold you?". Then, when Kimura was asked, before Kimura himself answered, Goro-chan immediately said, "Your father is very kowai(scary) nee..."^^ Then Kimura told the story, that once his father came to him while gritting his teeth, he looked so angry. Kimura's father told him to stand up, beat him twice, then scold, "Go to your room! And think of it yourself why I beat you!". Goro and Shingo remotely said, "kowaaaaa~~~ii!!" xD Scary, indeed nee... Then, Nakai asked Goro, "Goro-chan, what about you?". "I never experienced that ne...", Kimura caress Goro's hair repeatedly while smiling, "of course, you dont...". hahaa...they're soo cuuute!!!
Kimura also one that cannot lie and hide his feelings. This is because of the way his father educated him. You'll notice how he's in a bad mood in the middle of the show coz he dont like something. Perhaps, coz he's also a sensitive person.
Since 5, Kimura had already learned kendo(Japan traditional fencing) and keep practising for 11 years. Kendo is one of Kimura's expertise even until now, ne. In 13 years old, Kimura won Chiba Prefecture Kendo Championship. In school, he joined the kendo club, gymnastics and basketball club. Ha...you can see how he is gooood with swords! It's like he's a part of the sword itself. Really comes in handy for filming samurai movies!!^.^
Besides Kimura in SMAP, we all know Tsuyoshi is also a kendo-expert. In Kusanagi Musashi skit once, Kimura and Tsuyoshi did a kendo duel with two Level-3 kendo experts. There are 8 levels in kendo, when one has reached Level-4, one will be allowed to teach kendo. So, Level-3 is considered as a pretty high level. Although Kimura have exercised kendo for 11 years, but he never took a qualifying match, thus his kendo status is no-level.
Tsuyoshi, who exercised kendo for 6 years also have a no-level status.
In the kendo duel in Kusanagi Musashi skit, Tsuyoshi won 2 rounds of 3. While Kimura won 1 round of 3. According to an article in a Kendo magazine, which analyzed that duel segment in Kusanagi Musashi, ones with no-level can beat ones with level-3 status, is considered an achievement on its own.
By the age of 10, Kimura was already taught to learn taking care of his family. Like taking care of his baby brother, whom he used to bring with him while riding the bicycle.
At the age of 14, Kimura's father fell ill, it was a serious illness. Kimura's family lost their main income, coz his father cant work anymore. As the first son, Kimura had to replace his father to work for money, and became the family's main support. Of course, for teens like him, its not easy for Kimura to get a job that's enough for his family's support.
Until eventually, Kimura had to live with his obasan(aunt) temporarily. About a year later, Kimura's obasan sent Johnny's Agency audition form with Kimura's picture and CV without Kimura knowing about it, thinking that Kimura may get more income if he join the agency. After she got the confirmed audition date from the agency, Kimura's obasan announced it on Kimura's 15th birthday. At first, Kimura was reluctant to do it, but eventually give in to his obasan.
After auditioned, Kimura passed and officially joined the Johnny's Agency in November 1987 ^_^

I think this is one of the reasons why Takuya is my goban...because I've been around Japanese men like that and it really is scary. Sometimes you can really see the anger in his eyes. One time on Utaban Takuya mentioned that if a girl (girlfriend?) pissed him off he would hit her (this is before he married and had 2 daughters). But I think his attitude probably changed after he had two girls of his own.
This is also the reason why I love him with Goro, though. He never gets angry at him...even when he's talking about something he thought was strange or weird that Goro did. He scolds Tsuyoshi and Shingo but rarely ever Goro-chan. I like that Takuya can be so yasashi to another man (which is completely different from his upbringing).
