The ratingz for Kouhaku (SMAP part) is 46.1%...

Those enka singers,, most of their ratingz are below 30%...
NHK really should change it to the famous singers or groups...
Those enkas wont help anymore..
I'm alwayz wondering,, if Nakai-kun isnt the host for this year, hows the ratingz then??? Below 30%?

I managed to watch Kouhaku when Smap sang Arigatou, it was good!!! need to download the whole show and rewatch some parts.

Actually, I'm the type that prefer slow songs, or you can say 'boring' type of song. So, sometimes I can enjoy listen to the old Japanese songs in the 80's. They're really good, but I don't like enka too. I don't think NHK would change the performance from enka into entirely J-pop. Even FNS or Music Station(entirely Jpop shows) only manage to get rating about 18%-22% The older generations would prefer to listen to enka. NHK wants wider range of viewers. If you watch the singing competition that was shown in NHK every week, you'll notice that most of the people who participate would sing enka. Even I think it's good if Japanese can still maintain singing enka, it's like a tradition. But sadly, most younger Chinese already forgotten about opera.

I heard NHK received thousands of complaints regarding DJ Ozma's performance, I think it somehow affect the rating....

i agree that they shouldn't get rid of enka because it's part of their culture but there was just SOO much of it consecutively. i think maybe if they spread it out more it would be better
