Really? I thought it would be the easiest out of the Asian languages (along with Korean) because it has a set alphabet and was assigned Roman letters after the war. Phonetically it's very similar to Korean. One of my text books says that it takes an average English speaker 2-3 years to become fluent in Japanese while it takes an average Japanese speaker 5-10 years to become fluent in English. I guess that's why Tsuyoshi mastered Korean so quickly while Shingo is still struggling with English.

Hmm, I always figured Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese, etc.) would be the hardest to learn.

Something's definately wrong. I notice there are some posts that aren't showing up right away. Sometimes I'll go back a page or two and a new post will appear when it wasn't there originally.

If you become fluent in Japanese would that be your 3rd or 4th language?

I'm so bad with languages. I took French in high school and I just couldn't grasp it because the grammatical differences between that and English were just too different. Haha, I'm not a language person. I used to be a Math person. I guess now I'm a SMAP person

But I think for me to become fluent in Japanese, it's gotta take very long time....

I think there are variations because my mom and step-mom's omurice tasted very different.

The rice part is minced beef, yellow onion, ketchup, and of course rice.
I think the egg part was just egg but you can change the flavor with ajinomoto (MSG), salt, and sugar.

I think you can fool around with these ingredients to suit your tastes.

Yeah, too much. About 600-800 yen for the uchiwa plus $7.50 broker fees and triple shipping. I really can't help it...I have a SMAP/Goro addiction.

They have another one at Yahoo Japan right now. Maybe you can get your friend to help you buy it.
