I don't think SMAP popularity is fading at all and that goes for Kimura Takuya's ad. remember, he is the best artist in Japan for years and still is. Therefore, I don't doubt about his popularity nor SMAP. I think if we are talking about Japan, then Kimura Takuya is it! (well, at least for me :woot: )

No way Kat-Tun can be the new SMAP, although SMAP is getting older, but no one can replace them. Just dunno why everyone like to say wanna be the new SMAP. Like in Taiwan got 5566. SMAP is alwayz ichiban and SMAP has been famous for 15 years... Their concert can have more than 1 million ppl everytime they held... And they alwayz make a record, like Sekai Hana.
And after writing all this, Ifve realized this: Why do ignorant fans piss me off so much? Because I am also an ignorant fan. Unlike SMAP fans who have been with them for more than half of their careers, I canft just smile and ignore all this. I lost the link to her blog but it was one of the BEST things written in jent fandom. Kattun is no where near as popular as SMAP. And I don't think they will ever be. SMAP has two generation of fans. Just 5 more years to go to make it three!

talking about PRIDE... I'm wishing and hoping that Takuya and Yuko will have some more projects together in the future or very soon because I really like them. The best couple in dorama for me and also, they have so much chemistry...which explained why I like them so much beside their good looks :hehe: :mrgreen:

but did you see the latest Tsubaki CM where Yuko was part of it and SMAP song Dear WOMAN is the theme song for the CM....how wonderful is that!!!...and what Kimura was on WHAT"S UP radio...he even mentioned about SMAP should also be included in the CM with those pretty girls!!
ah the comparison to kat-tun resurfaces. well, the only thing i can say is smap is smap. i think they say that about every new group that debuts. i guess it's because smap is the shit and their status is like gold medal status.
about yuko and kimura, i agree too!! their chemistry was amazing! i was also disappointed that they were married to other people.

Seriously, KAT-TUN can never be the new SMAP. The most thing that they're lacking are MC skills, while SMAP got tons of that! Whenever KAT-TUN are hosting, only some parts can be interesting, the others, you can only shake your head and be amused at how stiff the KAT-TUN boys are. Honestly speaking, the three big juniors even, Kanjani8 have lots and lots of MC skills better than KAT-TUN.
un nakai and kimura yoshino look cute together. who knew they did so many projects together. i think i started liking her because she was in brothers with nakai.
kat-tun doesn't have 1/3 the charm that smap has. that's just my opinion. maybe it's because they're young but i doubt it. there's really no "wow" factor to them like there is to smap.
i kind of prefer matsu takako and kimura's chemistry in real life to their dramas. when she's on smap x smap it's always very fun and they always joke around.
Waning popularity aside, but have you ever wondered about what SMAP would do should they really be forced into a new choice of career some day? Like in, say, ten years or so. I mean, a person can only endure so much stress, and their schedules seem to be pretty full...

SMAP the next Rolling Stones? :mrgreen: First of all I think they will age better phyiscally (though the Stones rock--at least their older tracks!) ;-) but in any event the fact is that SMAP has been around and hugely popular for awhile. That in and of itself is quite a feat in the fickle entertainment world. All of them are popular in their own right, not just as members of a group.
I know nothing about Kat-Tun so I won't say anything about them, but I will say that the fact that SMAP has been around so long and have admired members with such distinct personalities will only help them keep it up for even longer. There are people who have grown up watching and loving SMAP; when you look at their audience they have fans of all sorts of ages. Maybe now the younger people have/will find the Kat-Tuns of the industry better than SMAP, but I think discounting the loyal fans SMAP already has is a mistake. As SMAP continues to garners new fans (and I think they always will), many of their other fans will still be into them.
To end, I will be the Takuya Kimura/Tomoko Yamaguchi chemistry fan :dancing:
