yeah, mine had a little plastic nugget on one side you could disengage the 4 extra pins.

Ok. Thank you!
I checked again and found an extra 4 pins connector with orange, red, black and yellow wires with 24 written on the plug. I guess that's it.

I swear I've seen similar machines (albeit not running Tablet PC) from Japan for some time now.

I wouldn't doubt it... The Japanese are really forward-thinking when it comes to electronics...
Nice. I might buy one of those instead of a new iPod. :bonk:
i refuse to buy any Sony products, they're Poo now.
I saw one by samsung too. Possibly almost every companies that makes laptop, will have one... :bored:
One of my HD's died today :shamefulcry: :shamefulcry: it was a Maxtor 120gb, when I turned my comp on I saw smoke coming out of my tower.
sadly I don't remember exactly what was on it, since it was an older drive (around 3 years old) it contained random anime/music/jdrama, personal stuff
and lots of install files. :banghead:

Yow, very dramatic.
The big question is: did you ever back up that HD?
Usually something catastrophic like this brings people around to backing up... Hard lesson.
it actually smoked?
i dont think i've ever seen smoke come out of a pc case...

well the funny thing is that I used that as my main backup drive -__- so all the images are gone. yup there's burnmark too ;(
I know it has some misc media files on it, but that's not important: I can redownload that crap. I'm more upset about photos n logs that are gone. (I don't constantly re-burn them)
I'm glad it's only 120gig, that's why I've always said that I didn't trust those bigger HD: I'd rather buy 2x200gb instead of 1x400gb drive to minimize data loss for when it dies. then again, no media format is safe...

I killed 2 power supply once and 1 monitor that smoked. Never saw a hard drive smoke though...
I have a 120gb Maxtor too. I'll back it up just in case... :bleh:
Mine's a Diamondmax 9, it worked well for like 3 years.
one of the chip/controllers has a burnmark on it :beaten:

my drives usually just start to click.. that's when i know to back everything up... last one didn't give me much time.. clicked for a few hours, then it screeched.
Clicking is bad, I had that once with an older Maxtor (I think it was the infamous DX740 series) but somehow it stopped doing that and worked properly.
I did some research, what happened to me, happens quite often I heard. The only solution is to try finding the exact same model HD and switch the circuitboard. that's going to be really hard >_<
