In the wallets, each entry has a see thru index label. It took a while when I decided to catalogue but is worth every second I spent doing it. Yippee... :victory:

i gave up using binders and such... the spindles are so much easier to store long term.

Man, I really need to do something. Even if it's to sort out my spindles into categories: Dorama, anime, game backups, etc.

Problem is, some of the CD's have more than one kind of file on them :(

I catalog everything.

I just start a program after burning a CD or DVD, hit a button and it's done. Been doing this for at least 2 years without a problem. Not really pretty, but it gets the job done. Fast too, if you don't use the CRC check.

Free and Open Source link :)

Awesome Tabana-san, i'll have to look into that for sure.

i just scribble my list of doramas on the wall...very convenient.

I used to do that, but they're hidden behind all those calendars I've been collecting. :P :bonk:

Not good.

Looks like all of the J-Dramas show varying degrees of corruption... :puppydog:

To be safe and ensure that the hardsubs are good, I'll have to redo all of them... Once I get all of the software installed.

Suckie. :bleh:

Man, that sucks. :bleh:  Atleast you backed up the raws, so not all is lost, ne?

'racer....any idea what led to your hard drive woes...sounds like it was a pretty frustrating experience. well empathy isn't difficult... i think we've all lost data at one time or another, i'm no exception.

boris wrote:Ouch . What program did you use, Nucleus NTFS Partition Recovery?

Yup.

It restored my directories and most of my files, but the large 1GB video files clearly have some bad bits, since I see some random blocking during playback.

The smaller files seem to have been restored with no problems.

At least with the directory structure restored, I know what stuff I have to redo.

Yeah, I still have the raws.

And it looks like the various setup and config files are okay, so I can reuse them when I re-encode...

I suspect that it's due to the 137GB limit on older (2+ years) motherboards... There's an OS patch that will allow you to use larger HDs (>137GB), but you have to apply it before adding in the HD...

I forgot about that, so when I did a fresh install of Win2K and added in my 160GB HD, the OS didn't see the HD and the partition table somehow got corrupted... Basically user error. :banghead:

Now, I've got XP installed and figured out a workaround for the 137GB limit, so I'm good.

But after the fact. :puppydog:

hmmm....thx for the explanation.....you see after the fact but ppl like me wouldn't even have divined the problem before during or after......never would have occured to me given my limited technical frame of reference.

well if there are dorama files that you need to reacquire and i can be of help....just shout.

Thanks for the offer.

I've got all the original raws on their original discs on a spindle... It's the hardsubbed and encoded ones that bit the dust. :puppydog:

Oh, as I was wandering about Fry's looking for another HD last Sunday, I saw an external 2TB ( ) drive...

$1000USD.

I can send you copies of the ones you sent me if you need them.
Plastic, unmarried family, married at 20.

The last episode of married at 20 is corrupt and unreadable. But I can send you back the original and maybe you can figure it out if you need it.

No need... I have copies of those.

Thanks anyways. :)

Not necessary.

When I get things back in order (by this weekend hopefully), I'll send a new copy over to ya. :)

Sorry for the bad disc.

I've seen it on sale at Fry's for about $380.

It'll probably take a week to format. :beaten:
