Try Spybot.
monta wrote:another problem. this is the second time my computer had an error. the screen suddenly goes blue, like the usual when you get major errors. and then at the bottom it says "dumping virtual memory : ... *numbers* "
but after i reset the computer, it seems fine and nothin's changed

Major system crash...
If you start getting those frequently, you'd better think about backing up all of your stuff ASAP...

usually it means critical error, or unstable machine. this also can happen when you're overclocked too far. (but then you already know the cause)

It simply disappeared. I can only help her by email as she's in NY.
I assume she lost her audio drivers. It's an area I'm not familiar with.
How can she reload the drivers if that is the problem. :bleh:

That happens fairly frequently...have her try this:
Start>>>control panel>>>administrative tools>>>services...scroll down to Windows audio...right click...click start...close services...restart
Hope that helps!

and it's AWESOME. my old DSL line was decent, a 20mbit line (but with crappy upstream only 100k/sec) now I have 24mbit up/down
I can post a DVD5 within 30mins now :say_iloveu:
(hides from RIAA/MPAA)
