Well, my strategy partly worked: I asked my boss for a laptop so I could work on the company website at home. He's getting a new one, so i'm going to get his old one (Not that old). But he also told me to buy a wireless router & they would reimburse me :victory:

Only problem: it doesn't have a DVD burner. But it ain't going to last forever, is it? :twisted:

Yeah, portability costs.

Repair-wise too, I'm afraid.

I think I like Vista. It's prolly easier for me to like because I'm already used to a Mac and adapt well. The more I use it on bros comp, the more I think it's a cool move. :thumbsup:

Do you really need the Intel Core 2 Extreme? You'll pay something between $875~$950 for the CPU alone. You can get a quad core for $500 or a regular dual core for $250~300.

It's faster, but not something you'll notice unless you're doing fast Fourier transform or insane gaming. As far as I know, you'll get better performance converting videos with a quad core than a dual core extreme, by a lot.

Hmmmm... I'll look into that. I could get this one:

Specifications
spacer.gif

* 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2GB 667MHz DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
* 750GB Serial ATA Drive
* SuperDrive 8x (DVD}R DL/DVD}RW/CD-RW)
* Apple wireless Mighty Mouse
* Apple Wireless Keyboard (English) + Mac OS X
* AppleCare Protection Plan for iMac - Auto-enroll
* Accessory kit
* ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO with 256MB memory
* 24-inch glossy widescreen LCD
* AirPort Extreme
* Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

COST = $2593.00

Edit: I forgot that I get a teacher's discount. So the cost would be $2407.00. :D

According to the site, the Extreme is only another $275

It seems Apple quietly upgraded the specs on the Macbook lines. They bumped up the processor speed slightly and use a newer chipset and Intel integrated graphics. Same prices.
