My external drive arrived yesterday, allowing my to backup the Nodame Cantabile Special I got in the mail the day before it, among other things. :victory: Works like a charm, though it appears the backup software can't be used on 64-bit versions of Windows. Not really a problem, since Windows automatically detects the drive as a generic USB drive.

You should've saved your money by not going to see Speed Racer. :beaten:
Or maybe in your case, Indy 4. :beaten: :beaten:
Anybody in here set up an HTPC from scratch recently?
:crazy2:

Spend your food money to get a laptop...you're young you don't need to eat, you can survive.

Nope. Looking for tips on what to get.
I was actually just looking to get a NAS early on since I was already shuffling a lot of stuff in and out of my portable HD and the laptop, but since the wallet is willing, may just build an HTPC with a big-ass HD instead, and then connect it to a network so that I don't need to do a whole lot of moving/burning anymore.
:naughty:

that's what i plan to do for the next 3 semesters. :beaten: should i consider Mac?
monta wrote:should i consider Mac?
You might want to. They just refreshed the specs for Macbooks this month, I believe.

I don't think you want to consider a Mac if you're not eating....they cost a lot more than PCs so you might have to starve for longer....I suggest selling durian meatballs by the side of the road.
All kidding aside, I hope you get your computer situation resolved soon.

You'll still run out of space eventually. :beaten:
I would think setting up an HTPC shouldn't be to tough: you just need to make sure you have a good sound card and video card (HDMI) to feed into your AV receiver (with HDMI inputs)... :)

Why you gotta rain on my parade, eh?
Yeah, 500 GB should do for the next few months, assuming I find a better ISP by then. :grumble:

It WAS very cool. But seeing browsers in 3D can get annoying. Looking at the open windows on my screen in 3D was fun in the beginning, but then I got tired of it and switched back to normal. :beaten:
I'm here for some help again.
I'm having a problem in install the WIFI/wireless driver for an Acer brand notebook, Aspire 4315 series.
I have the windows XP (sp2) installed in the notebook, but the resource CD which come with the notebook is only provides the drives for windows Vista. I have searched at Acer website, they also provides for windows vista only...
I can't seem to find the match driver, I used the SiW software and checked out the WIFI driver is Atheros, first i thought it was Broadcom but i have tried both, those didn't work.
so, anyone knows why and what is the problem ? help please :bonk:

A longshot, but I suppose you checked the Microsoft website, ne?
Usually when they don't provide drivers, it's because it's in already built in the OS. If you don't have a AMD cpu, you could always upgrade to SP3.
I checked around and it almost seems like the laptop was made for vista, so that's probably why they don't have drivers. Sometimes, upgrading the chipset drivers helps too. It will miraculously find the device's name and install the right driver.
But, if it was built for vista, you may not find anything for that too. (because they're the one making the Mobo). You could always find a similar models, in the Acer laptops with XP, and try its drivers. It could work. :fingerscrossed:

You might want to look for the older installer of the Atheros wireless software and see if that works for you.
Had to do the above while trying to put Windows XP in an Aspire that originally had Linux. That was pretty much starting from scratch, since there wasn't really any documentation in terms of trying to replace the OS and install all the correct drivers for XP...
You may also want to start looking here for anything regarding your Acer, since there's some stuff in there about what drivers to put in for XP when DIY-ing the XP install.
Good luck.
