she lost her role in that NHK taiga dorama because of her unannounced pregnancy....this is rather old news actually  She also lost consideration for the female lead role in "Engine" and the role was then given to Koyuki, i believe.
:goddammit: If it wasn't for that pregnancy she would have had more success. Well anyway, I have already moved on from that issue.
That guy is not alone. I also think Tifa have some similarities with RH in some scenes. Is there a torrent for this movie (or is it a series?) I wanna check this out.
Losing the Taiga isn't that bad anyway, I mean, the last two taiga were a bit disappointing... just take Shinsengumi (which had a few highlights) and especially Yoshitsune (that freaked me out royally).
Not 100% sure, but I heard that Ryoko's latest dorama, Slow Dance, was quite a success in summer.

hmmm...i see...i haven't followed any jidai geki shows lately....but yeah she had a supporting role in slow dance as opposed to the leading role but any role is better than none especially when the entertainment press has just about written you off....

Yub, she's back... now all the little idols can hide in fear.

i don't have any up to date info on her current projects...(can't read japanese)...but imagine she's parlayed her success in slow dance into other roles...the fact that she's appearing in magazines is always a good sign...when i was in japan last year...her promotional work was non-existent. she wasn't on any billboards or printed adverts except for one small ass one that sat atop the automatic doors of one of the subway cars i rode on...it was quite telling of her status, at the time, at least.

It's not a surprise though. There wasn't much of her to see last year, since she's been pregnant for nearly half of 2004. But I think she's coming back now. It'll take a while, but I'm sure it'll work.

A Taiga drama might have been more profitable for Ryoko because a Taiga drama has more episodes (about 50) than a normal drama (about 11). On the other hand, Ryoko air-time in a Taiga drama might be far less than in a regular drama if she is not cast in a leading role.

Yeah, her career is in a recovery stage right now. I think being just a supporting cast in Slow Dance really worked well for her. Of course, a lead role would have been great for her comeback but it's better than nothing. It is most likely that they will take it slowly before she comes back from her former glory.
Ryoko appeared on a television programme called "seimei isan seimei no chikara" on september 23rd. She is also featured in some magazines this month.
Browsing through the new drama announcements I have not seen her name come up. So no news about new dramas. :(

No dramas? This is not good :shakehead: . If she is to make a comeback then Slow Dance should have a follow-up, soon. By the way, what kind of show is this seimei isan seimei no chikara? I went to the website of this show but everything is written in kanji.

I believe her management office(?) said something like "we have to carefully decide what she [Ryoko] does now she is a mother". It probably means Ryoko will be doing less acting work. :(

I don't know. Haven't seen any torrents for it or else I would've downloaded and watched it. I can't read Japanese either, I just use a lot of translator websites.

I get the point.
