Darn it, I'm still having problems on the SmapXSmap torrent in jpopsuki. My penalty for a low share rating is already lifted, but looks like I'm facing a new problem now.......my connection to the tracker is being rejected. :argh: I keep getting this message "Problem connecting to tracker - <urlopen error (10061, 'Connection refused')>. Is anyone in here experiencing the same problem?

Yep, nobody can connect, reason: the jpopsuki tracker is down. But the web frontend is still up, also the forum. We'll just have to wait until the tracker is fixed.

I see. Anyway, looks like it's fixed now, too bad it's already too late in here so I'll just have to download it tomorrow. :bonk:

Publisher ordered to pay damages to actress Hirosue for defamation

Saturday, July 29, 2006 at 06:53 EDT

TOKYO — The Tokyo District Court ordered publisher Kodansha Ltd. on Friday to pay 4.4 million yen to actress Ryoko Hirosue for defaming her in a magazine article portraying her as a neglectful mother.

The article carried in the May 7-14 2005 edition of the Shukan Gendai weekly magazine could give readers the impression Hirosue neglects her child and drinks heavily at host bars, Presiding Judge Nobuhiro Katada said. (Kyodo News)

Ryoko Hirosue wins payout over poor parenting, host club partying claims

Ryoko HirosueActress Ryoko Hirosue was awarded 4.4 million yen compensation by the Tokyo District Court after it ruled weekly magazine Shukan Gendai had defamed her with a story claiming she was a bad parent.

The court blasted Kodansha Ltd., publisher of Shukan Gendai, as well as the weekly's former editor in chief, over the May 7 to 14 2005 double issue in which it ran a story under the headline "Hirosue forgets about parenting to booze at host club, screams 'I want to appear in a 9 p.m. Monday drama.'"

"Both the headline and part of the story gave the impression that the plaintiff was an irresponsible parent leading an abnormal private life, causing damage to her reputation and clearly being defamatory," Presiding Judge Nobuhiro Katada said as he handed down the ruling.

Kodansha Ltd., publisher of Shukan Gendai, was outraged by the decision.

"This ruling can only be thought to go against socially acceptable behavior," a Kodansha spokesman said. "It's extremely regrettable."

In its May 7 to 14 2005 edition, Shukan Gendai accused Hirosue of drunkenness and partying at a host club, as well as failing to make a comeback as an actress.

Hirosue responded to the story by suing Kodansha and the editor for defamation, demanding 23.7 million yen in compensation. (Mainichi)

As far as we know, she could've gone out only once and they made it sounds like she's drunk everynight. :shakehead:

But the damage has been done. Those media people always exaggerate things. :shakehead: Oh well, at least this should clear her name somehow.
