Well in France, you can easily find CDs like the OST or the CDs of Gackt, Laruku, etc ... which come from Taiwan and which are really cheap and those are copies (legal ? not really but well it seems that there are some weaknesses in the french system). So I wanted to know if those taiwanese vcd are copies ('cause that can seem stupid but I don't really like buying copies, I don't think it's fair for the artists but I can easily understand people who buy that sort of thing especially when you see the difference of prices between the Japan version and the Overseas version)

on yesasia.com you can buy a lot of taiwanese stuff and i don't think that yesasia would sell them worldwide when they are illegal.
for example:
got some some japanese dvds as hongkong version and the only difference is the extras on the dvds.
japanese dvds have a lot of extra stuff, and when you just put the movie on the dvds its cheaper

Edit : I forgot to say that the CDs coming from Taiwan and that we can easily find in France are sold by big groups like Fnac (I don't know if you know it) they're using the weaknesses of the system to sell that freely. So I don't think that the fact that Yesasia sells them, is a guarantee

Well in fact for the cheap Cds I can't know therecording company before buying 'cause I can only buy "on line", I don't live in Paris where it's easier.
So if we are sure that the artists and the company receive a part of the money, I'll buy the overseas versions ...... but I'll continue my research

as fedora already said.
not all chinese/ tainese cds/ dvds/ vcds are illegal copies.
the illegal stuff is usually sold on the market, not in cd-shops, etc.
and the cds/ vcds/ dvds are cheaper than the japanese ones because they are oversea versions.
and because taiwan/ china are cheaper than japan in general...
that's all...
