but what gives you the right to call that cheapskate? when you don't understand the meaning of getting a cool present besides a bigger, better more expensive one?
I'd love to give a cool present too. Especially if I had handcrafted such. If I had the time, I'd make her something. Even though I'm not good at it, I'd try.
But because time is against me, I shop at where I work. And lucky me, my wife likes the products from the company I work for. Easy for me. Good for her. What is so wrong with that? Also, are you aware that I have 3 jobs, and I only see her (my wife) for 1 hour in the morning, and about 3 hours from the time I get home????!!!! (Yeah, EVERYDAY)
If you lived that type of lifestyle, how much extra time would you have to do 'creative' projects to give to your loved one for Valentine's Day?
Maybe that's why I have to resort to buying her such things?
Hey dude, trust me, I'd rather make her a doll made out of straws. (Saves me money, right?) And of course, even at that, every year I would like to better myself from years past. But shit, I've no time so I buy shit rather than make it (or being creative). And as the homemade stuff, I want to get her something better and different every year.
And I've done the chocolates and flowers gig for years already.

I've actually enjoyed the conversation up to this point. Being judged for my opinions moves it into a totally different atmosphere.
I haven't told anyone to "piss off". Read all of my posts and you'll see.
I've also nothing against opposing opinions. Opposing opinions are fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion(s). But when others get on others for their views and opinions, that's what upsets me. Especially when one is categorized after stating his/her opinion.
I was just voicing out my opinion(s). Having being told that I was somewhat mistaken and materialistic moves this whole topic into a different catergory.

Character assumptions like this is just another example of why I get upset with people who sterotype after hearing another's opinon.
bottom line. --- Don't judge me by my opinions. Listen/read my opinoins with a fair ear. Do not categorize me or sterotype me by what I say, especially if you don't agree with it. You don't know me or where I come from.
