True say. lol
Ya know, I don't think I could ever live in a country where there is only one season...
Nor I.
Although, if it was like today year-round, it wouldn't be so bad.
What thread is this?
Oh yeah.
On topic: Getting loaded up with work by the boss, before HE goes to Japan :(

LUCKY BOSS!
The VP won't approve my trip to China. :puppydog: She has no reason to reject it. I mean, I've done all the paper work THOROUGHLY, got all the quotes, references, etc. It better not be personal.
Yatta!! The Queen went home sick.... :woot: :dancing:
All that coughing and sneezing on her phone finally paid off. :beaten:

i was asked to come to work early yesterday to let the cleaners in the showhouse. i didn't mind so i did. what i do mind is that the cleaners were put back to lunchtime and my boss never told me! :shakehead:
I got a random phone call today from a person at communications at the board office, asking me if I wanted to do a workshop for other teachers on Asia. Apparently my last head of department recommended me.
Their having an Asian Festival thing and are providing numerous workshops, and since I incorporate a lot of Asian influences in my lessons, she thought I'd be great.
I was flattered, but I have certain reservations. First one: I'd have to do it in three weeks, and there's no way I can prepare with all the stuff I have on my plate right now. Second one: I'm still a new teacher. I don't think I have the confidence to go in and teach other more experienced teachers how to create a unit on Chinese wall scrolls. Third one: I have no idea what's expected of me. Am I supposed to teach a lesson, or show them how to?
I'm so overwhelmed I dunno what to do. I've always wanted to do a workshop, but this is such bad timing. What to do, what to do!

Uh, why don't you ask what's expected? If it's going to be too much for you this time, take note of what they expect and be prepared :)
You can do it, Wyn-sensei. I have faith in you :)

If all teachers attending are noobs, that won't be a problem. You know more then them. I doubt you'll have teachers with PhD in Chinese culture attending. ;) If it's not mandatory, you might have younger and interested teachers vs old geezers waiting for retirement.
Something cheap and relatively easy to do, perhaps?

I did. She said she'd email me with the details, but she said it's basically an open session. I can do whatever I want. But I'd prefer some guidelines... :pout:

It's open to all teachers in three different boards. Whoever is interested in incorporating more asian art (since really it's all european in the curriculum) can attend. I've been to other workshops and it's usually teachers who have taught for a few years and are looking for a change.
They might be looking for general guide lines or ideas. Taking bits and pieces and do it their way. I suck in art so, can't help you on that.
Just take along a copy of Nodame, if they get bored you could always just slip that on. It sort of fits :)

I think I'll do China. Do some art history and link it to contour drawing and value. Then tie it in to Chinese painting and wall scrolls.
:banghead:
You have centuries worth of material. :)
How about the art of gyoza? Everybody like gyoza. :hehe: :bonk:

I'm sure I could pull it off as Japanese influence.

LOL! I should make it a cooking workshop instead of an art workshop. :mrgeen:
I think right now I'm gonna say no... and wait for her email.

I'm trying, but the stupid VP won't approve the trip. :banghead:
At least you were able to go to Europe. Like gaijin mark, in school we visited the cement factory, national park, waterworks, police station, city dump...
You guys are lucky. :puppydog:

It has nothing to do with luck. I had similar field trips in school was well. We went to the local graveyard once to take crayon rubbings of tombstones.
This is why, as a teacher now, I'm doing trips to different COUNTRIES. It's a lot of work and really tiring, but I want MY highschool kids to graduate with a gool experience under their belts.
I wish you were my teacher when I was in school, Wyn-chan :)
