Well I did tell one student that he isn't talented and should never take an art course again. He's know the leader of my hate club. :beaten: (true story, btw)

I seriously wished I'd packed a gun every time I was in his presence.

So I get this phone call today from a guy, asking for help in identifying an item. He has no brand name, model number, part number or anything that could help other than a vague description. I asked him to email me pictures of the item in question, in case I can identify it from sight. Anyway, no email was forthcoming, but he rang back on a few more occasions. On the second-to-last call, he casually mentions that his boss had already rung and spoken to "someone" last month about the same thing. I asked him who it was. He didn't know, but rang back later and told me. I told him that it was my boss & half-owner of the company, and asked him what my boss told him. And this guy says......

"He said he couldn't help us".

SO WHY RING BACK AND GO THROUGH THE WHOLE @$%^&&*!#@ THING AGAIN????

 oh no poor you! What I hate most is when I confirm that something can't be done (for example printing 1000 copies of a brochure in 2 hours), people say ok and go behind your back to verify with your boss and your boss comes back to you asking why you didn't tell them it wasn't possible.

I feel your pain A.D. Everytime we get a call we have to put notes in the case as to what happened. What the customers problem is, what we did to troubleshoot, etc. It cracks me up how someone will call back in 10 minutes after talking to someone else and expect to get different results than they did the first time. Sometimes I want to tell these people, "I don't have a big red button on my desk that says "Make DSL go!" :beatyou: [/list:u]

That's whack.

When I first started working at my current company, the boss tried to get me to come in on weekends for free and I told her no way unless she gave me at least comp time... She wouldn't at first, but I told her it's comp time or nothing, so she relented... She'll abuse anyone here unless they stand up for themselves... That's the management mentality here. :shakehead:

Which I understand, but they should come up with something more rewarding than one compensation day.
If you start to work for free, you are a slave :beaten:

Well its not exactly the case every week.. But when some code release is near, you end up putting more time and even end up working on weekends.. Most of the times, the project will be underestimated (and most times knowingly)..

The management mentality here also is similar and many take it for granted that people would put in more hours or work on weekends to finish the tasks on time.

Hmm.. Then I'd say that I feel like a donkey!! :)

And one compensation week off would be brilliant! :hehe:

I found out that I'll be trained to become an IB teacher, which means I'll now be qualified on the international level to teach in IB schools. This opens a whole window of opportunities for me now! :woot:
