Currently watching breath of my heart and dling kizuna. Never heard breath of my heart before. I check her 1st album and message album, but it's not on the track list. Where is this song from ? A single I suppose, which one ? Could someone (lol shinyo-kun probably will) upload the mp3 of breath of my heart (320 kps/s) ? The performance is sweet.

actually, i can understand Memiors of a Geisha. They couldnt find too many talented japanese actresses in the US (they need substanstial english speaking actresses). the popular Chinese Hollywood actors were chosen cause they wanted a top-notch film and decided to use them over people that might seem like rookies or "new to acting". They put in that one guy from Last Samurai who was japanese because he was one of the few JapaneseUS actors with pretty decent acting skills.

Yes, those Hong Kong, Malaysia etc versions are like 10 times cheaper. Some equal picture quality and well made boxes (like Ace, Hitonatsu, MlC for example. But not to mistake them with the bootlegs that are often sold at ebay) but most times they are not as good as the original japanese versions. Like AP or Attack for example are definately worse picture quality and cheap boxes.
Many hardcore fans only buy the original CDs and DVDs and would never buy any bootlegs at all. :hehe:
Well, thatLs quite expensive maybe but original is always better and more precious. For example the Azumi japan limited; was quite expensive but itLs 1000times more beautyful than the cheap bootlegs and HK etc versions over at ebay. And itLs easily worth 10 times as much as those $10 Azumi DVDs at ebay now.
And another important aspect is that you support Aya with buying japanese originals !
Downloading Doramas is OK, of course. But I often buy them if I liked them afterwards.

i don't completely buy that...Zhang Ziyi had to take english lessons prior to filming....why couldn't they have done the same thing with a Japanese actress? they could have easily picked Rie Miyazawa or Kuroki Hitomi for one of the three leading roles. well it was far from a top notch film....it only made 57 million dollars in the US and the production budget was 85 million dollars. "new to acting" perhaps in the US but not new to the craft in general. the acting was roundly criticized by many critics and movie goers alike...so they obviously didn't succeed in that regard.
in any event, i do believe the rationale you set forth does accurately describe the thinking employed by the producers...misguided as it was as demonstrated by the film's poor reception.

i think they chose ziyi over a japanese actress is cos shes pretty big in hollywood cos of crouching tiger, they wanted names that people knew and would bring them in and they thought "shes chinese...its close enough..."

well my point was it's a big school with over 30,000 students....moreover, engineering is a tough major....throw in a social life which probably includes knowing a grip of students, on campus events, going to San Francisco, etc.....you get the picture.
