Yeah, a lot of people don't realise they're causing offence for some reason. For example, in the Japanese car magazines I read here in the UK, they're always talking about 'Jap' this and that and a lot of the tuning companies are 'Jap' something or other. I tend to use JP if I'm going to abbreviate.

wow is it really that big of a deal?? i hear it all the time at skool and it's totally used in vancouver all the time (maybe b/c vancouver has tons of chinese and a good # japanese ppl too.. lots of exchange students at my university :mrgreen: ).. i'm not trying to disagree but do u guys find it that offensive?

I hear it from my friend who is japanese that it is offensive to them, do to what happened during WW2 as Kitakaze mentioned. I think the term "jap" shouldn't be used so we don't upset any japanese people here

That sucks :puppydog: . Yeah, I'm enjoying it. It's pretty off the wall. It does have some of that Japanese "moralizing" in it, where one character speaks up and says what's right :hehe: . "My Little Chief" didn't really have much of that...but Aya is the main character in "Papa," so it balances out.

Asians are smaller (except that Chinese basketball player, he's HUGE), but... that's an advantage I'd say. You guys don't have to run from pillar to post in order to get something trivial like pants in your size lol.
