Hahaha, as far as learning canto and mando, I always felt canto was easier since I was sort of born with it. However since I'm learning to write, I feel that mando is easier now. The thing is, in canto, we use so much slang that there really is no character to express that same word. So basically written language and spoken language differs in canto. However in mando, whatever you write and whatever you say. However I do think that mandarin is much harder to speak! HAHAHA, gotta work on my pronunciation :beaten:

Some, but my dad went to high school here and was in the US Army. My mom's English is so-so, but so is my Cantonese, so we got by.

Wow. Your dad came here early on huh!? I give him props for joining the Army when he wasn't born a full blooded American.

Still, very admirable.

I considered the Marines 'cause a lot of my friends were enlisting, but never had the guts to follow through and leave home. I guess that's why I admire what your dad did.

Yeah, I couldn't do what he did, either. It was a different time and age.

Sometimes I wish I could experience life back then. It all seems so...... "foreign" to me. Yet intriguing.
