Unlike Hong Kong, lipsyncing is a big 'sin' and 'shame' in Japan's entertainment industry. Unless with very special reason, no artist is allowed to do so. I attended aya's live tour last summer, and found that she could really sing well in front of her fans, as good as what she did in CDs.
well in japan lipsyncing is not that big of a deal anymore..
Boa , Morning Musume do it regularly...just to name a few
and the prestigious Kouhaku ...many artists have lipsynced from
Seiko Matsuda to Ayumi Hamasaki
and trust me ...i have watched over 100,000 live performances and i know a lipsync when i see it ....and Aya did so on hey hey hey
i feel so left out of the conversations going on since i have yet to hear the album and yet to see the heyx3 though i've dled it.
but from reading the posts, to me its fine if Aya lipsyncs if she really needs to. Like if she is starting to lose her voice do to a cold or something  :puppydog:
If she is all healthy and lipsyncs, I would be very sad :shamefulcry:

yes i agree...its fine with me also
its nothing against her
the song is very hard to sing ...and her voice would have to be in very good shape to sing it
even my hiro had to lipsync many times a hard chorus from her song treasure ...it doesnt bother me
her voice in the CM News seems a bit...............i dont' know.........sounds like she caught a cold or something......her voice a bit dry??? I can't even describe it
Was this after she came back from Torino??
@Phinn - Phinn-san, you were asking what others think of the egao no mama de performance right? Here's what I think.
lip-synch
One entry found for lip-synch.
Main Entry: lip-synch
Variant(s): or lip-sync /'lip-"si[ng]k/
Function: verb
transitive senses : to pretend to sing or say in synchronization with recorded sound
intransitive senses : to lip-synch something
-this is the definition of lip-synch I read in merriam-webter online dictionary.
I just watched the video and I'd have to agree with you. I'm pretty sure it wasn't lip-synched, though it might sound like it. But I watched it carefully and observed a couple of things that lead me to my conclusion... Gomen if some of what I observed are rather unusual or technical. I just want to tell everyone what I think.
1. In the first 28 seconds of the video, if you watch her neck carefully, ( I know it's strange to say this, so please bear with me. :beaten:) you would noticea vein appearing on aya's left part of her neck. Veins like that only become that visible if voice is being produced, especially when you strain your voice too hard, like when you shout. It wouldn't normally appear if the person wan't talking (...or singing for that matter).
2. Starting from 46 seconds of the video, this is where she starts singing the first stanza of the song... Notice that there seems to be two Aya voices that you can hear. A stronger voice, and a secondary voice, which is somewhat llike an echo. (Phinn-san was this the audio-video synch issue you were talking about?) Anyway, this was most probably caused by the acoustics of the hall she was performing in and the feedback coming from the speakers around the hall (Although we can't see the speakers, they're obviously there.) Let's think of it this way... Aya is singing right? So her voice is directly recieved by the microphone and then sent to the audio console, but at the same time, it's being emitted by the speakers in the hall. So the mic not only receives the sound of aya's voice, but also the sound emitted by the speakers, hence, the seemingly echoing sound. I hope it isn't cofusing. :headscratch: At any rate, as far as I know, this "echoing effect" so to speak, wouldn't occur if Aya lip-synched during her performance. :chatter:
Well, that's just my take on that. It's up to you guys to decide for yourselves. You guys can :tolerance: me if you don't agree with my explanation. :)
on lipsyncing ...there are times when they actually do sing ....but the microphone is turned off
so of course you will see veins if this was the case....but maybe they turned her actual voice down to 20%
....which is almost the same thing as lipsyncing
this is my last post regarding this.....and we should all just let it be

honto ne? i thought they don't sing at all when they lipsyncing...especially if they have a cold and cannot sing because of their voice.... :headscratch:
