don't wake up from your dream then, my friend, cuz reality is a whole 'nother ballgame. com'on dude you really think if she saw Morita Go and they dated do you they just held hands and ate natto together? :hehe:

edit: more importantly why does it matter? if she slept with the guy would you all of the sudden stop liking her?

uhhh not really. I'd lose my some of my respect for her if she did sleep with him but it's not like i'd stop liking her. It sounds like you're talking to me like i live on the computer and fantasize all day. I do live in reality and I have dated before. We all have our different values and I don't think that people should sleep with each other if they dont really love each other. But people do it anyways... different ideals.

And YES, people do date and hold hands and never have sex until they've married. Some don't, i agree, but it sounds like you're saying that anyone who likes each other, dates, and holds hands has probably gotten into bed with each other.

why does it matter? It's not like it's the most important thing in the world but since she's my favorite actress, i'd like to know what's going on. I'm not gonna be like "i dont care. Do whatever you want. your life isnt that important to me. im just gonna stare at your pictures a lot and buy music. and if you become a shoplifter, it doesn't matter to me." But i dont know. Everyones values are different from each other.

i wasn't making any implications about you whatsoever or your beliefs, since you mentioned them (i applaud you for having a personal sense of ethics)...i just wanted to hear your rationale regarding the importance you place on her personal life, (i.e. relationships and the prospects of such relationships)

it's natural to be interested in somebody's life if you follow their work professionally...that's completely reasonable....i agree ppl do espouse different values systems and if you look at Japanese society critically then one should appreciate the fact that they don't adhere to Judeo-Christian precepts on relationships and marriage like most Western nations. Pre-marital sex doesn't hold the stigma that it might elsewhere around the world. In fact Japan has one of the most thriving sex industries in the world i'd say despite the importance they place on outward appearances. i would say the japanese attitudes re: sex are much more liberal than here in the United States, although I will say it's somewhat hypocritical how they often try to portray woman as these pure, virginal types despite the reality of modern Japanese attitudes about sex and intimacy. in fact it is well documented less and less Japanese women are giving birth to children but that doesn't necessarily follow that there is a concomitant decrease in intimate relationships.

with regard to entertainers, i'm sure there are a multitude of actresses in Japan that have balanced a personal life and a professional one despite any media image they might portray to the contrary....i doubt aya is any different.

ryoko hirosue and yuko takeuchi are but two examples of top female celebrities who announced unplanned pregancies resulting from relationships and subsequently got married...my point is the sexual relationships existed although you didn't hear about it until they were forced to publicly acknowledge the truth due to the pregnancies.

i appreciate your example but committing a crime and having an intimate relationship are categorically two different things with regard to the effect on one's esteem or reputation.

in any event, it is not personal and it never was ;) i appreciate these healthy expositions of ppl's opinion..it's all good to crack jokes but it's also interesting to read an exercise of more thoughtful opinions

i don't understand why you don't think there is peace? :) just because there's a discussion doesn't mean there's ill will behind it.

i honestly don't get that? forgive me but i think the exchange of viewpoints and ideas is a good thing...i remember hundreds of lectures and discussion sections that i sat through as a student and i never equated a vigourous debate as something approaching malice.

i guess i am not as debateable as you are...but i suppose what is important is that both sides, respect each other's view points...and if there is a mutual respect, then there can be a a good debate...

now, if some one flat out, offended someone's view point and had no basis behind it, that is pure BS, and does not belong....

so in essence....carry on.....carry on, :applaud:

welps in the classes that i took you "better nut up or shut up." if you weren't debating and making thoughtful remarks you weren't getting the good grades...

of course.....if i didn't respect someone's viewpoint i wouldn't ask what their opinion is on the matter....you can't divine what their perceptions are without questions.

i agree... thankfully that's not a problem here.
