Hi what is pwn? I went someone's xanga and it made my drive open saying I've been pwn? I'm worried.

PWN = own. As in, I owned you... would be "I pwned you". It's a common misspelling because the o and p are so close together on the keyboard. it eventually became more accepted beause of videogames (like counterstrike) and is used naturally today (misspelled on purpose). I use it quite often while I game. I pwned you!

The evidence does point in that direction.
Probably should run a virus scanner to make sure.

There are viruses that do nothing but open and close your cd-rom. Though I don't think that's what his problem is.

just run the virus scanner. your drive opened because of a media player exploit. i've had that before. no worries. it more like a joke thing that people do......

Well, it seems his system was breached, probably if he clicked on a link or there was an Active X control triggered. Go get your system scanned, IkematsuSosuke. It might have just been a one time trigger, but it means your system is vulnerable and probably needs some updates.

I clicked random on the Naruto blog ring..and it went to his site..and it said have a nice stay if you're drive opened youve been pwn ee and ff. My drive opened and then I got pissed.
I ran a virus scanner and there is none. It's still bullsh*t.

Ah . . . I LOVE prawns

Prawns are yummy.

Oh do you think a firewall would prevent this?

to me it looks more like "you've been pawned"

::shrugs::

I'm not too sure what that means either :chatter: Maybe as in a pawn shop?

Yes, it might.

Some tips for you to do right now:

1. Windows Update
2. Get firewall software (Kerio, Norton, etc.)
3. update virus scanners, then reboot and scan
