This coming week.

From Japan Times:

Though it isn't a subject that is addressed very openly, teenage pregnancy is an issue in Japan. However, to most people it is only an issue that affects girls from lower-income families, which means girls who have lower expectations with regards to education and future employment possibilities.

The new drama series, "14-Year-Old Mother" (Nihon TV, Wednesday, 10 p.m.) takes as its bold premise the unintended pregnancy of a teenage girl from a well-to-do family who attends an elite private junior high school for girls.

Spoiler — click to reveal
In episode one, 14-year-old Miki (Mirai Shida) and 15-year-old Satoshi (Haruma Miura) meet at a cram school. Satoshi, whose mother is over-protective, is a lonely boy. Miki is the first girl he has even been able to talk with directly and openly. The two teenagers are harassed and deeply traumatized by a group of older kids, and during the process of healing they grow closer to each other. Eventually, Miki realizes that she is pregnant, and those around her suggest that she should have an abortion. But Miki has other ideas.

Yeah, it's on top of my most anticipated dorama this season! Both of the previous Boku series were really really good, and if everything goes well, I can see Tsuyoshi topping the Best Actor list again this time! :woot:

oo..u mentioned about yagira yuuya..
i havent heard this name b4..
probably bcoz im too focused on Johnny
i should see outside the box too..
what drama did he play in?
ur words made me curious bout him

Sorry for the late response.
He has been in 2-3 dramas in very minor roles.
As I previously stated, he just seems to appear only in movies.
But actually I think he will be in a drama next year in the winter or spring as the #1 supporting actor.

Some people just appear in movies rather than dramas and vice versa. Actually I think Kimura Takuya will be starring a movie shortly and I don't recall him doing one in the past. He's always famous for his drama roles, and of course, Smap.

And some actors like doing both dramas and movies.

Teen actress playing 14-year-old mom appears at NTV drama preview

Mirai ShidaTeen actress Mirai Shida appeared at a preview screening for an NTV drama casting her as a 14-year-old mother, saying she could never imagine being in the same situation in real life.

Shida, 13, spoke to reporters during the preview of "14-sai no Haha -- Ai Suru Tame ni Umaretekita" (14-year-old Mother -- Born to be Loved). Joining her at the event were 16-year-old Haruma Miura, who plays her 15-year-old boyfriend in the drama, and Misako Tanaka and Katsuhisa Namase, who play her mother and father.

"For me at the moment, becoming pregnant is unthinkable, but I want to talk to my mom about (the role) and do my best," she said.

In the drama, a third-year junior high school student played by Shida becomes pregnant in a story of "love" and "life."

When Shida was asked what she would do if she ended up in the same situation, she replied, "I wouldn't be able to focus on anything. I'd probably be pretty hard on myself. There are still a lot of fun things I want to do, and I wouldn't be able to raise the baby even if I did give birth. I probably wouldn't go through with it."

She said she didn't have a problem with the love scene in the drama.

"I wasn't too embarrassed," she said.

Miura said he wanted to put effort into his role.

"I don't think I'll ever get the chance to play a 15-year-old father again. I want to act out the role carefully."

The drama will screen on Wednesdays from 10 p.m., starting from Oct. 11. The theme song of the drama is "Shirushi," by Mr. Children. (Mainichi)

yeah it obviously covers "new" ground with regard to topics addressed in most TV doramas.

i'm still waiting for the "Chikan Otoko" who goes around grabbing women in the subways....i mean let's get some realism into these doramas.

My prediction is Mirai Shida will be first or second in best leading actress for this season. I like her acting and I think she has a lot to grow but we'll see how she plays her role.

I've usually been right in my predictions but this prediction may be a bit farfetched.
