I tried all their solutions... no dice. divide by zero error.
I'm very much aware of divide by zero faults from my own bal programming days..... but I never left the user in a fog by not telling him exactly why and where the error occured. Today's programmer's don't seem to have that passion for giving information that we old timers had... I think they are on a thin edge of almost being virus writers and gloat when an error occurs that they purposely left off the resolution. :beatyou:
That, or maybe they didn't foresee that this problem would occur and didn't make any counter measures for it. It seems that it was tmpgenc and not virtualdub that have a problem with this. Check out this thread in videohelp.
I think the author found the solution there (the post regarding the solution is located at the bottom of the page) though I don't think it is applicable to your case. I'm really sorry for I wasn't able to help you on this matter :say_sorry:

Saito_Hajime wrote:Like the insert subtitle option in most dvd authoring tools, except that it isn't switachble subtitles, ne? Any luck on that?
It works...! :woot:
It's a complicated process of demuxing and muxing, but it works.
Once I figure out how to use DVD Lab Pro, I won't have to go through this TMPGEnc-VOBblanker-PGCEdit-DVDSubEdit mess, because DVD Lab Pro supports subtitles. :woot:
Anime Dad wrote:I think a divide by zero error is a programmer's way of saying "Stuffed if I know why that error happens"
I also have Sony DVD Architect which can add subtitle streams and REQUIRES MPEG2 input. It's also not free, but that can be fixed ;)
thanks for the heads up on Sony, I think. I d/l it. The fix is in. :victory:
Just spent 1/2 hour trying to find how to add a subtitle track. Found it and now it wants either txt or sub subtitle file... so taking a long break before I dive back in to convert my subtitle file to required format. This is about as complex software as you can get and requires tedious and prolonged study. But I'm hopeful when I put all the bells and whistles in place I will finally get a sutitled mpeg with the correct bit rate and no divide by zero error. I also seem to be having some trouble getting it to recognize the audio.... but can't tell until I figure out how to create an output file.

Ralphie, you should send me those files and let me take a crack at it.... :)

Thanks. I checked it. He was getting his divide by zero apparently in tmpgenc author.... But even so. I get it the second I hit the convert button in tmpgenc plus. And it's on every segment I tried... I tried 4 different segments.... I tried it with a .vob file and an mpeg file as input. I tried it with different subtitle file extensions.... and I tried it with virtualdubmod and the mpeg version.... So on my computer at least virtualdub in all it's iterations seems unable to pass a clean file to tmpgenc. It could be something deeply hidden in my registry considering how many conversion softwares I've installed now. :bonk:

For some reason my email is blinking at sending the mpeg file so I'm trying to u/l it to megaupload. If it succeeds I think you get an email to that effect.
Anime Dad wrote:That's what you can do with Sony DVD Architecht and DVDLabPro.
Got a nice output mpeg 2 file with sony dvd architect BUT no audio. I can't seem to get it to accept the audio.
Any ideas?
You would think that when it accepts the mpeg input file it would know that it has audio. Is there any software anywhere that can just simply accept what is there in the input and put it back out after merging the subtitles? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:
Ralph, got your files and put 'em together with not much effort... And no encoding. :victory:
1. Demuxed the .mpg to .mpv (video) and .ac3 (audio) using TMPGEnc.
2. Converted the .ssa to .srt using MaestroSBT.
3. Converted the .srt to .sup using Srt2Sup... This required a little tweaking with the subtitle display colors.
4. Muxed the .mpv, .ac3, and .sup files using Muxman... The output is DVD-video (.ifo, .bup, .vob files).
5. Tweaked the positioning and colors (again :grumble: ) using DVDSubEdit.
6. Done.

That is the risk if you don't demux your video to elementary streams. Try the process that bmwracer posted. ;)

I like that documentation.... I will try it.
Dunno if I posted this before, but Winsubtitler http://winsubtitler.wyxsoftware.com/ will open & convert any kind of subs to any other kind (AFAIK) It's what i've used before to convert .sst to.ssa
Might save you a step or 2 in the process.
