Gotta check back there again next weekend.

I am heading to Kinokuniya LA tokyo probably Sunday, will check out for any stuff. Thanks for checking @bmw, guess some places take their time to import the magazines. I always thought that the ones they do bring in, say "air-mail" and they jack up the prices, and then a week or so later, bring the prices down and take off the air-mail strip. Anyways, hope "frau"mag comes in soon. :fingerscrossed:

Should be nice and warm in downtown L.A. tomorrow.

Hey, did you ever drop by the Asahiya yourself?

Had an interesting little episode with the pretty Mitsuwa Marketplace checker girl today... She seems really nice. ;)

@Bmw,

was the japanese girl, an overseas J-girl, or an americanized one? for some reason -IMO- i like the overseas J-girls better.
most of the time, the ones that work there are from overseas and now living here in SoCal. That's cool you had a conversation w/ a j-girl. Can you speak a little japanese?
We asians, although not japanese, can blend in with them at times... :hehe:

no didn't get a chance to go, 36 miles away, maybe tomorrow if i get a chance, but going to LA little tokyo tmrw. so it is a bit outta the way off the 405, since i am going the 5fwy....
found loads more photobooks at Bookoff, you might try the one in Torrance - bookoff. Unfortunately didn't see any Ryoko ones at the bookoff in Costa Mesa.
ok, here's some more Nana pix that might've not been posted here before..... :applaud:

She definitely was born here, but she speaks the language (most likely a requirement at Mitsuwa)...

No way was I gonna use my crappy Nihon-go skills on a girl I don't know... I've got enough problems with English. :beaten:

yeah BookOff, a used bookstore, well most of their items are used, manga, magazine, cd's, dvd's, but not all their stuff is used, some are new, but their prices are good. The one in Torrance might be a smaller Bookoff. I was looking in the back corner section, and surprise, I found at atleast 100 photobooks, but nothing like japan of course. BookOff's pb's were older, probably a few years old, but found some good ones, Rena Tanaka, Yui Ichikawa, and Nana Katase. And many others you probably haven't heard of. And they were close to half the original price. I got Rena's pb for only $6. I also found a small handful of pb's at Sanseido bookstore in the Mitsuwa near my place, but nothing good there. Hard to find any pb's, decent ones. Good luck in your search.

Nothing, aside from that checker that I mentioned. ;)

They had an older issue of FRaU (6/5), but not the 6/20 issue. :grumble:

I'll have to check back again this coming weekend.

I usually try to check out the japanese markets/bookstores weekly. Hard to find anything really good on them. you might want to check Bookoff Bookstore in Torrance, i was surprised to find that many photobooks in one place, must have had 4 or 5 rows of them, although mostly older photobooks, sorry didn't find any ryoko-chan. :shakehead:
they also have other mag, cd's and stuff at the Bookoff near my house.
good luck in finding anything good.

Yeah, I didn't get a chance to check out BookOff... It's in Gardena, not too far from where I used to live... Maybe this weekend.

Too bad this stuff isn't available online... But that would be too easy.

yeah, that's for sure. yesasia and other online websites, not too sure what they have of pb's. probably not much of a selection out there. there must be tons of new pb material out there in japan. Of what i could observe, all bookstores in japan have pb's(Kinokuniya, Bookfirst, etc...) and only a small number of pb's are found here at Kinkuniya, Bookoff, Sanseido, etc....) Definitely, very hard to find them. Luckily, i found a few of Nana's, but she didn't make very many of them and they are from a few years ago. I am not sure if Ryoko Yonekura made any pb? do you have an idea, @bmw?

Ryoko-chan's has had several photobooks, and I think I have all of 'em...

As far as I know, at least. :headscratch:
