Hmm, good point... I'll have to check the local TV schedules.

EDIT: Ack, you're right... It'll be live back east, but delayed on the west coast... That is SO wrong. :grumble:

See. Lame.

The know where the important people live. :hehe:
Truthfully, at first I found it odd that it wouldn't be live across the country, but it makes sense, they're worried about ratings, so they want to air it during 'prime-time' out in the west coast.

In this age of internet, Twitter, FB, having this mentality makes no sense. Screw NBC! If you want to reair the events in prime time, I have no problems with that. But for pete's sake, the freakin' Games are in Vancouver... and last I checked, they are on the West Coast. Knowing them, even if the Games were in LA, they'd still wouldn't show it live in LA.

It makes sense when you're trying to sell ad space. There's a difference in audience (numbers) between a show airing at 4 pm and one that's on at 8 pm.

I saw the video of that luge competitor, that was tragic.

Looking forward to see who lights the cauldron tonight. Most people are saying Wayne Gretzky, but I have a feeling Terry Fox's mom might do it as well.

Ugh, not looking forward to hearing Celine Dion sing though. Tragically Hip and Rush not available? :beaten:

The news just reported that the Olympic committee is considering suspension of the luge competition for Vancouver....

I find it unconscionable that the Olympics are not live on the West Coast. It shows that they care more about ratings and money than the games themselves. Also, even during weekdays, they have about 2 hours of Olympics in the afternoon!?! They have "paid programming" from 1-2 PM then Days of Our Lives, then the Olympics! WTF!

I agree completely.

As a personal protest, I'm not watching the (delayed) opening ceremony.

NBC can piss off.... Bastards. :grumble:

:ohcrap: omg I just saw the vid of the fatal luge crash.

RIP Nodar Kumaritashvili. He was only 21 yrs old.

Ugh, felt a little embarassed near the end of the ceremony. In a Spinal Tap pod won't open sort of way. :bonk:

But still, enjoyable ceremony :)
