bmwracer wrote:Hey, any of you guys seen Kagayaku Onna, Juri-chan's tour through England?
Comments? Subtitles?
Okay, I took the time and watched through thae entire film and though it had no subtitles, it was still interesting to watch.
For the most part, she spent her time in Cornwall, living with a family on a farm. She rode horses, fed pigs, fed cattle, hung out with the locals... Sounds ordinary, but I thought it fascinating.
After that, she took the train to Bristol and met Alex Shearer, author of the book, The Great Blue Yonder... Apparently Juri-chan read this book and it affected her quite deeply... I wish I knew more of the details as to why. :puppydog:
She also visited a cathedral in Bristol and as she toured the inside, it brought her to tears... That was really touching... I suppose she was overwhelmed by it all.
LOL, as she left Shearer's home, the author gave her a peck on the cheek and Juri-chan went into Nodame mode: uncontrollable blushing and giggling... I almost expected her to say "Gyabooo...!" :hehe:
I'm really glad I downloaded this video. :victory:

I dedicate this haiku reading to Ms Ueno.
Just see-thru enough
to tease, that dress of hers
black is its color

i personally prefer the sleeveless men's shirt thing in the post after. :hehe:
Silly question, but:
Since I've never heard the name before I was wondering, does anyone know what "Juri" means in Japanese?
Or if it's not a word, do you suppose it's the Japanese pronounciation of "Julie"?

Summer Time Machine Blues is the best time travel movie ever made...even better than "Back to the Future", because it leaves none of the usual time travel paradoxes...all is wrapped up nicely!
Here's a nice review:

it's written Ž÷—¢ and thtl's japanese teacher told him it means a countryside full of trees (i think, saw it in the forum somewhere).
there is a television program that said it means that her parents hope for her to grow up quickly. however, my japanese is bad, so this is the screencap and someone correct me if i'm wrong.
