Ueno Juri

I say Ruka's hotter because her personality is more appealing to me I guess? ie- she's not a stereotypical braindead girl. Not saying Nodame is braindead, she's far from it. But Ruka's coolness factor wins me over Nodame's super adorable + talented factor... (Why can't they be combined?!) but thinking even harder about it while I type this, it's a close call!

I'm also a girl, so I tend to judge other girls a bit differently than guys do. ;)

You know something interesting? That picture always feels very intimate to me. It was never something we were supposed to frame grab and scrutinize as much as we (okay.. I) have. It's a kind of invasiveness that digital imagine affords - we can grab still photos of things that could never have been seen by our natural eyes as still scenes.

Nodame has that effect on people. :victory: But seriously, it takes a very competent actor to pull off that role without becoming extremely annoying. I'm looking forward to finishing this series and seeing her performances in other roles. And how can I turn down that pouty face! :inlove: Must be getting soft as I get older.

I think Nodame is a role which benefitted Juri greatly. Many people are impressed with Ruka because they see the great contrast between Nodame and Ruka. Ruka is like the 180 degree opposite of Nodame. It really showcased Juri's amazing range as an actress. If Juri had never played Nodame and just recently acted as Ruka, people would still be attracted to her and she'd have gained new fans, but not quite as much attention as she has been getting right now. There were people who didn't like the over-the-top comedy in Nodame Cantabile and couldn't see how difficult it was to bring a comic role to life, and they didn't see Juri's charisma back then. But now these same people are watching a gritty realistic drama like Last Friends, and they are discovering that Juri has the acting chops for serious roles too. So who knows, after watching Last Friends, some of these new Juri fans may have another go at watching Nodame Cantabile where earlier on they passed it off as mere fluff.

Of course, those of us who fell for Juri way back before her turn as Ruka know better about how talented she truly is. :mrgreen:

yep, in the Lost Time Life episode featuring ã–ì Ž÷—¢‚³‚ñ, you'll catch lots of facial expressions that will remind you of her "Nodame" character.

It's really nice to know that I'm not the only Juri fangirl here. Yeah! Like you said, I also like the cool Ruka than the adorable Nodame! But what the heck! It's still Juri-san anyway! :hehe:

You know, that hit me really hard! I was one of those people who thought the comedy in Nodame was over-the-top as you have said. Exaggerated to be more precise! But I was laughing nonetheless even though I thought like that at first. So when I watched Last Friends and because of the great contrast of Nodame and Ruka, I appreciate more of Juri's talent.
