Be forewarned: she's only a supporting actress, not the lead.

Yet another case, eh? Well.. it seems this is one problem with Juri's career - she's still young. I should have become a fan in about 5 years, so there would always be more material than I knew what to do with :nut:

She's had starring roles as well... I think she's picking roles that interest her, not ones with her as the lead/star...

It's funny how Nodame had money woes at various times, yet all (?) her clothes were designer-class... The "struggling" drama character. ;)

Keeping up with Puri Gorota merchandising isn't cheap. :beaten:

I've learned not to let that be a deterrant. There are a few dramas where the supporting characters blew away the lead in terms of acting and development. Coincidently, the leads were SMAP people. :hehe:

Swing Girls was a great "little" movie. There was no major drama, no saving the world, no huge love story. It was just a small tale about a few girls going for what they wanted. Very heartwearming and enjoyable. Though not a great dramatic role, Juri-chan did a great job breathing life into Tomoko. Very spirited, yet goofy at times, and you cared. There were shades of Nodame, like Tomoko stealing a bento :hehe: , but in the end it was definitely a different character that shows Juri-chan's skills even at that age. Highly recommended, especially when you want to see a movie that's not trying to be the next great blockbuster.

I think, in practice, I agree with this: we take what we can get and we should enjoy it when we get it :)

Gems like Swing Girls are great because they are not too ambitious - they are just fun.

I think juri cute because she doesn't try to act cute, she is cute by being herself, acting cute for the sake of being cute is annoying to me. :bleh:

Factoid: Swing Girls ranked 8th at the Japanese box office in 2004, and won seven prizes at the 2005 Japanese Academy Awards, including 'Most Popular Film' and 'Newcomer of the Year' awards for Juri-chan and Hiraoka Yuta. :victory:

I think i was a little let down by Tsubasa No Oreta Tenshitachi. It was a strange little vigniette - like less than a normal episode, but 3-4 episodes worth of emotional material jam-packed into a small bit.

I mean, I enjoyed Juri in it.. but I was not too impressed overall.

It was a dramatic departure from the stuff I've seen her in previously... A glimpse into her dramatic potential, I think.

I think it's a fair assessment. I love the longer hair though.. She would be so hot with longer hair! :naughty:

I don't know.. I see her as more cute and lovable than hot. And honestly, to me, those are much more important.

There are a few shots I've seen in the last few months that get my heart racing, but most have elicited more a sense of sweetness and those things... There's one that's been posted a couple of times where she's wearing an orange top (if I remember) and has shoulder length hair just about kills me every time I see it though. And there was a photoset someone put up about a week and a half ago that was stunning.

But now it's time for my daily Japanese lesson and then I'll head to bed after watching Last Friends ep. 10 finally.
