Apparently ripping off a popular idea is not limited to small time pirates. I was in a CD shop today and saw a music CD from BMG entitled "Cantabile 100%". The brief description (I can't decipher the full Japanese text) mentioned the popularity of the 'Cantabile' as demonstrated by a drama - the name Nodame Cantabile was never mentioned. The CD itself is filled with excerpts of classical pieces from both the drama and the anime.

The music was fine, but the marketing sucks.
