I took a quick look at the subs last night: a fine job... The translation, text, and timing are all tight and well done.

That said, there's still the issue with the extra information (e.g., "A scatologist is....") and I'm not too crazy about the font type or varying colors (Yellow Arial font is the best, IMO).... And there's some flashy touches with the subs that aren't needed.

Beating a dead horse: subtitles are an aid to watching a movie/drama and should be unobtrusive....

Agree with you on the subs, especially the font size - way too big.

For some reason FujiTV made at least one little change in the music used. When Chiaki was dreaming in Nodame's room (at 13:47) the TV-rip version was playing "The Maiden Whose Voice Made the Animals Sing" followed by Beethoven's 'Pathetique'. In the DVD version the first part was replaced by another piece I can't name. Wonder why?

Ah yeah, I forgot to mention that... It did seem excessively large.

Hmm, I didn't notice that subtle change... Good catch.

Well, as promised I'm gonna post my critique of the subs on the Nodame-SARS thread on D-Addicts... I hope they don't get offended.

Okay, I posted my two cents: http://www.d-addicts.com/forum/viewtopic_p823224.htm#823224

Hopefully, nothing will hit the fan.

Let's hope they take it that way.

Behind the scenes (that's Stresemann (Takenaka Naoto) less the wig and funky clothes on the left...).

They've only completed one episode, though.

I just noticed another problem with their subs: when I watch it on my TV set, the subs are slightly cut off at both ends for soem of the text... I think the hardsubbers didn't account for the overscan that's inherent in most TVs.
