Wentz, Becky to play foreigners in "Nodame" special
Sun, November 11, 2007 (3:47pm EST)
Eiji Wentz and Becky have been cast in Fuji TV's upcoming "Nodame Cantabile" drama special, set to air for two nights at the start of 2008.
Tentatively titled "Nodame Cantabile Shinshun Special," the drama continues with the original story of the manga, following Nodame (Juri Ueno) and Chiaki (Hiroshi Tamaki) as they pursue their studies in Europe.
Wentz, whose father is German-American and mother is Japanese, will play the character of Frank, a French student who is also an anime otaku. Meanwhile, the British-Japanese Becky will be donning a blond wig to play the part of the Russian student Tanya.
Fuji TV has not yet announced specific broadcast dates for the drama.

Wasn't quite expecting this, but I suppose it's better than having another couple of full-blooded Japanese pretending to be foreigners. I wonder if they'll actually dub episode(s) of Purigorota into French, as in the manga.

Yeah, I was surprised as well... That Wentz guy was a complete wuss in Kirakira Kenshui...

Really have no idea about these actors, but sure would look forward to it. Surprised Fuji have not announced the date yet.

That's fine. That 'Frank' character was a bit of a wuzz in the manga too. :hehe:

Then it's a perfect casting choice then. :D

I LOVE this show!! I just finished watching it(started on Monday), and I'm planning on watching it again, it's so addictive! Chiaki is really cute! And Nodame is the funniest character I've seen in like forever! I'm starting to love classical pieces too, where could I find those played in Nodame(not on the OST, but like Beethoven, Mozart and others)??

Yay! Another Nodame fan... :woot: :dancing: :victory:
If you check the OST thread or some of the earlier pages in this thread, you'll find companion CD tracks from the drama to download...
Some (most?) of them might be expired, but you might make a request from member thtl, since he's the OST/Soundtrack/music king around here... :D

Glad to help out a fellow Nodame fan... If you've got any other questions, don't hesitate to ask. :victory:
BTW, there's been numerous music CDs released relating to Nodame (Nodame Best 100, Orchestra du Nodame Live,, etc.) and they're available through the various online stores like Amazon.com, YesAsia.com, and CDJapan.com... They're not cheap by any means, because they're imports, but check 'em out... :)
Here's a link to the Amazon site: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw/002-2990640-8991253?url=search-alias%3Dpopular&field-keywords=nodame+cantabile&x=24&y=19
Pricey...
It'd be best to check out the downloads from thtl first. :)

Holy cow, those are expensive! I just found Orchestra Du Nodame OST, downloaded it and it seems to have just about everything! I'm not a classical music buff, but this shows got me interested in it

Same here: there are some pieces that I've liked in the past, but this drama really got me interested in classical music... Great stuff.
Off topic, but if you really like music dramas/films and/or Ueno Juri, check out the movie Swing Girls... It'll get you hooked on jazz/swing music. :D

Thanks for the recommendation, I'll definitely check it out (I dig jazz too). But back to Nodame topic, I was reading that there wouldn't be a second season, but I was just wondering why? I think I read something about financial problems or something to that extent

It's not really financial problems per se, but we (fans) were speculating that the cost to film another 11 episodes in Europe would be cost-prohibitive...
But seeing Nodame's incredible popularity, it was decided that a two-part Special would be filmed in Europe, namely Paris and Prague, pics of which can be found on Juri-chan's official web site ( http://www.ueno-juri.com/report/index.php )... :D
