I'll always like the shot of Nodame lying on top of that huge sphere structure in the second episode. I like how it starts with an upclose shot of Nodame looking sad and in an instant goes to a wide shot showing Nodame lying on the structure. Thought that was a nice way of shooting the scene, had me cracking up. Mine pulling Nodame off like it was nothing as hilarious as well. :victory:

I checked the status of my order on Yesasia, and they finally(!) shipped it out yesterday. Turns out they were waiting for their shipment to arrive from overseas and it looks like they got of a hold of it. It's a stretch, but I'm hoping to get the DVD tomorrow, considering if they are shipping out from the Bay it shouldn't take any more than 3 days to get it here to Davis. :fingerscrossed:

Also, it looks like we have a third seeder for the 720p RAW of the first episode, and three peers are at 90%, so for those who are on or are still looking to hop on the download wagon the download speeds should pick up a bit with more seeders hopefully coming on board.

I'm currently seeding all of the JTV ones.. I don't want to jump ship yet as I still have a very active community getting them from me. I'll seed the other ones once they're ready to go (I only get about 150k/sec upload)

Sweet, more reinforcements on the way! I'm just seeding one episode at a time since I only a dinky DSL connection with only 384 Kb/s (around 48 KB/s I believe if my math is right) max upload. I just have to hope that those who finish downloading stay on as a seeders so I can start with the second episode.

Regardless, we're helping to share the Nodame goodness folks! My personal feelings on the JTV version aside, you have two 720p versions to grab if you haven't seen the drama yet

Wasn't the plan to resub your version and then send them out again? Maybe I should wait for that...

Nah, my plan is to simply provide the RAWs since the video quality is better and there are people out there who prefer a RAW/softsub combination since it'd allow them to edit for grammar or contextual errors and/or hardsub in their own particular way if they choose to do so. I believe 'racer is taking that route. I don't have any plans to hardsub, but I don't have a desire to download the SARS or JTV versions. I just hate extra text on screen or the occassional too-colorful sub that distracts from watching a show.

I was the one going to re-sub the drama in 720p for future HDTV use... :victory:

I wouldn't say I hate the JTV encoding, but I'm not particulary a fan of it. Using the DVD as the source and then upscaling it during the encoding process just doesn't sound so hot, and it doesn't look as great.

At the moment there are only two seeders, including myself, and with me only uploading at 20 KB/s max, the download may be pretty darn slow. Just please understand that I share an internet connection, so I have to be considerate of my bandwidth use. I'm just hoping once some of the peers finish they will seed for a while longer, help increase download speeds and I can continue on to the next episode.

Having said that, I'm still looking for other ways to get the raws out to those who are interested. I take it most of you are fine with the SARS or even the JTV fansubs, since you've seen the drama in its entirety long ago and probably have no desire to download yet another encoding, but for those who want a nice quality version to use with their own subs this is an option. I'm thinking perhaps doing transfers over AIM or other messaging programs if seeding the torrent doesn't work out well. I doubt hosting sites such as Sendspace or Rapidshare would provide so much space and bandwidth for free. There is one other option I'm thinking of, but I'd rather wait to see how things go with the seeding first.

Okay, I just started my download.... Uh, why is it tagged "Chinese subbed?"

You fell for it! It was a Chinese hardsub all along!

Just kidding.

There's a .ssa file included and that's the chinese softsub, but the video is a raw

Edit: I see you on my peers list now. You got like 5 times the d/l speed of the other at the momeht, so you might end up catching up very soon haha.

Looks like it's gonna take a while, too... Good thing the download is on PC#2.

Is it worthwhile for me to help load balance? I have very good download bandwidth and decent up.

Guys are there really that much of a difference with the 720p version. Since I only have a 12.1" laptop, I don't think I'm gonna see the difference, but I do like to have a good copy of this dorama.... Can anyone enlighten me? :bonk:

Also so happy to see more and more ppl getting into this dorama, more Juri-chan goodness being spread around :naughty:

I'll say it's worth the try, considering how bittorrent works. While one waits for a piece to download, another can get another piece. Of course, the more people, the more pieces that can be distributed at one moment. Hopefully the pieces you download will be different from 'racers, allowing the two of you or anyone else for that matter to share the pieces in order to complete the file. At this point I see 'racer going at 40 KB/s while there is someone else who just hopped on going at 35 KB/s.

Once one of us finishes the 720p version, we'll be better able to identify the quality difference. The JTV one is upscaled - so the file is large, but the quality is not so hot - weird aliasing and compression artifacts. It may be worth it to have 1.5gb files each if they are a nice upgrade in quality and subbing for me... but then I always get the best quality versions I can find - I really appreciate things like color accuracy and good compression and, especially, high quality audio.. but then, I'm not everyone.

Comes down to what your screen resolution is, but I'd bet it's closer to 1280x720 than 720x480 which in that case you will see a difference. How significant that difference is up to personal preference, but I will say it was worth the wait.

I think it is... Just having it available for future reference is a good thing, I think.

I'm running my 20" widescreen at the max resolution, 1680x1050, so even 1280x720 will be a little lacking... ;)

Nodame and Juri-chan fans unite!!!!!! :victory: :victory: :victory:

Yow, I missed out on a lotta posting: I got seasons six and seven of The West Wing in the mail today and got totally absorbed...

I've downloaded theirs as a subtitle reference..

My sentiments exactly... Too much info vying for screen space and attention.

I thought about using both SARS and JTV as subtitle reference as well, but chances are I'll just use SARS as a reference and go from there. I have no desire simply because I'm waiting until I get the box set to compare how it'll look against the raws. From there I'll decide which one will be worth hardsubbing.
