The more I think about it, the more I think it's her way of promoting the drama... Whatever drama she's in.
I'm not sure if she's asked to do it, but she does seem to propagate her roles for the duration of the drama...

Seems a good method too - I mean really.. if I watched a promo with her as Nodame, I'd have to watch it!
I think she's not alone in that method, too. Also, I wonder how much of it is for the continuity of her character and how much is for propagating the image publicly?

Her image?
I'll tell you this: her role as Ruka has catapulted her to the top of the gay/bi/etc. "favorite actor" list, judging from the D-Addicts responses on the LF thread...

Or "The Punch That Ricochets You Off of a Tree." :hehe:

Reason # 1 why not to sneak up on Nodame. :hehe:

At least not the way ero-jiji Stressemann does: :smack:

Seriously good work on the "move-naming". I think they should become part of the "Official Nodame Elite Club Canon".

You bring up a very interesting question of meta-marketing going on here. What's Juri's plan with all this? Or did she merely get swept up in a frenzy and will have to spend some long, hard time with her publicist to take it the right direction. I don't know if the Japanese Entertainment World is quite that nuanced, but I would say that kind of publicity for a young star like her would send any smart agent/publicist into a flurry of decision making about how to proceed.
Either way, the game is hers to lose now as she definitely has the upper hand. She could continue to play "innovative" and challenging roles like Ruka which put her on the edge of Japanese cultural acceptance or she could scale down and enjoy the gravitas that that expansion affords her legacy and pick and choose from the things that she really wants to do going forward.
Another option (and one you won't like Beem) is that she could put a termination date on her acting and move into a different field - we've already heard rumblings of direction. Or she could transition out of the public eye in a few years when she's finished a few more cash cows. I don't know how well that works in Japan as the actors don't get the obscene compensation that Western actors do...

At this point, with her Nodame and LF success, the world's her oyster as they say...
And this discussion should be part of her thread, not this one. :beaten:

Not much I can do about it other than to wish her success in any and all other endeavors...
As long as we hook up in the very near future. :beaten:
You know, Christian Bale(of recent Batman fame) is known to maintain the accent of the character he is doing publicity for. So I would say it's a sign of Juri-chan's professionalism for her to "stay in character" when she's participating in the game shows and everything else when doing publicity for her dramas.

I think someone else mentioned that... Or was it you?
Or was it a different actor? :headscratch:

Wasn't me. But I think we can safely say that some of the "Nodame-ness" is Juri-chan and some of it is likely her staying in character. In essence, we've gotten the best of both worlds here. A young lady who's professional enough to know how best to get publicity for her drama, and has some of the Nodame-ness for real.

She's spoiling the crap out of us. :beaten: :smitten:
