Agree, although it took me a bit to get into. Horikata Maki (who stars in that) is also in Hanzakari no Kimitachi e (HanaKimi) which is great! A bit outlandish (girl enters all-boys school, and no one immediately figures it out), but great acting, fun story, and serious moments mixed in with all the fluff.
Also, the Hana Yori Dango series are great, too. _________________

um hope this is the right thread but you see I'm really new to JDorama's and I was wondering if anyone could sugest somthing, I don't like anything sad or to melodramatic and I don't like violence, ghost, but other horror is OK as long as its not too scary...LOL, maybe comedy, crime or action, that would be great or sitcom type thing
In this genre, I really liked Good Luck. Kimura Takuya plays someone who is trying to become a full commercial airline pilot. I watched it a while ago, so I can't remember all the details, and I'm not the best review writier so bear with me! There was some romance, although the drama dealt mainly with people maturing in their roles. THere were in-flight episodes that were suspenseful.
The one I am watching now (with my husband) and which we both love is "Gallieo." It's a detective series where each week a logic-driven (but likeable) physics professor uses science to figure out and explain some paranormal aspect of the case that the dectictives can't figure out. One more ep to go! _________________

Hi boys n girls, hajimemashite =). here i would like to recommend an awesome drama which is pretty new : Proposal Daisakusen (2007).
The story line was about the main character, iwase ken (yamashita tomohisha) attending his childhood friend, yoshida rei's (nagasawa masami) wedding. He loves her so much n regreted he didn't make the move to confess to her. During the wedding dinner, other besties of theirs made a slide show of the bride (rei). Looking at the slides, ken recalls tonnes of memories n regretted not being nice enough to make rei happy all the time. There, ken's journey started as a Fairy who lives in the church granted him chance to go back to each the time plot of each slide to change the fate. An interesting, creative and extremely touching story...hopefully u guys would spend some time to watch it. _________________
What about Drama in historic japanese/chinese/korean setting? Any good? Preferably with available subs...
If you're talking about historical Japanese dramas, then you're pretty much talking about NHK Taiga dramas, like Toshie to Matsu, Musashi, and Furin no Kazan... 49 episodes long.
I've heard good things about Toshie to Matsu, but I've never seen it... I have seen Musashi and I thought it was very good, though it might've been too long.

I also read that Toshie to Matsu is the best of recent Taiga drama, certainly with the most impressive cast. I have only watched 5 episodes so I don't really know much about it. It can be difficult to follow though if you have no background knowledge of that particular period in Japanese history, but if you are interested, just google and you can quickly catch on reading about it on wikipedia.
If you find Taiga drama too long, there are a few SP or short series that are set in historical settings too.
Like this one: http://jdorama.com/drama.506.htm Or is that too modern?
And there is this series of drama and movies, including this one http://jdorama.com/drama.958.htm
You can probably find other drama of this series when you google, I couldn't find them in the search box above. I haven't seen them though, just pointing them out.

Hi everyone! I've been looking for really good Dramas with music in it...with the main characters to have a passion in music and stuff..mostly guitar, piano or singing is what im looking for. So if anyone knows any good ones, please share! I would be so delighted if you do XD
I watched Taiyou No Uta, the drama and the movie and fell in love with playing the guitar and writing my own music now. I got inspired, and it's a really sad and touching drama.
So i recommend it :]
If you loved 1 litre of tears or love music, you should definitely watch Taiyou No Uta!
