Well, I didn't come away unsatisfied... depressed as hell maybe, but I still thought the film got to say all it wanted to say. I also liked the message very much--that it's the civilians who end up losing the most in war, no matter which side their country is on. :puppydog:

Yah. How true. :ohcrap: In the words of a wise and ancient philosopher,
"Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.h

Studio Ghibli unveils "Karigurashi no Arrietty"
Wed, December 16, 2009
On Wednesday, Studio Ghibli officially announced its next feature film, titled "Karigurashi no Arrietty." This will be the directorial debut of Hiromasa Yonebayashi, who served as animation director on "Gedo Senki" and as key animator on works such as "Ponyo," "Howl's Moving Castle," and "Spirited Away."
"Karigurashi no Arrietty" is adapted from the fantasy novel "The Borrowers" by Mary Norton, which received the Carnegie Medal in 1952. The story follows a family of "little people" living under the floorboards of a house, surviving by secretly "borrowing" items from the humans who inhabit it. One day, their existence is discovered by a young boy.
Although the original novel was set in England during the 1950s, the Ghibli version takes place in present-day Japan.
The movie's theme, "Arriety's Song," was co-written and performed by French musician Cecile Corbel. It will already be available digitally in Japan on December 19.
The official website is already open. Theatrical release has been set for summer 2010.

I see. I see. It's like comparing Nagoya kochin tebasaki to Kentucky Fried Chicken....
Hard to believe with over 250 animes, have never seen a GIBLI film, no reason, though they always seem to be at least $5 more than other animes. :usuck: Just bought this tonight, someone recommended this to me so highly, gonna put it on shortly, sitting here reading the manga first to set the mood. :dancing:

Cheers, man. After watching Summer Wars upon your recommendation it's going to be hard to find another animated movie as entertaining.
