That's a scary thought... Hardly a happy ending.

As an aside, I don't really think of Ruka as a lesbian per se. I think she's the type who will love someone for who they are, regardless of their gender. And it just so happens that she loves Michiru, who is a girl. This is groundbreaking because so many people can relate with those conflicted feelings of not confining yourself to a label, and breaking most rules.

Yeah.. that's kinda my thinking. She's someone who's very confused about love and was only able to rationalize that type of closeness to Michiru, so far.. I suspect there may be more in store for her later. I think the scene in the second episode when she was looking at that website for the gynocologist was a total red herring.

They're just messing with us... the reason Sousuke is so paranoid is that he's actually cheating on Michiru with Ruka. And the reason Ruka is so nice is because she feels so guilty about undermining Michiru when they used to be friends, so she's developed a narrative about how much she cares about Michiru and is beginning to believe it.

I still want to see where the writers will go with Eri's story, just because she and Ogurin seem to be the foil for all the other characters. Everybody else is deeply troubled, and then you look at those two and somehow the overall heavy themes of the drama don't seem to weigh on you for at least a bit. They haven't done anything over-the-top with that part of the drama, so I'm trying to find out if they'll deviate from what I expect to happen there, given how the rest of the series is going.

I'm inclined to agree with this post to the extent it discusses Ogurin. I suspect that Eri is deeply emotionally scarred. She's so flippant - I think it's a front. Notice her conflicted reactions in the cafe with Ogurin - I bet she avoids love at all costs and is scared when she experiences feelings for some and then quickly distances herself from them.

I think we'll find more about that next ep. if the preview tells us anything.

Yeah, that's it.

Is it just me or does everyone feel for Ruka more than any other character?

I'm trying really hard not to be a Ruka-enthusiast.. but it's hard.

Though Takeru has a lot going for him too, I think - he's the sweet guy you can't help but care about. Can you imagine how mad we'd be if Sousuke hit him?

Yup, he's the sensitive, caring, nice guy...

But you know what Leo Durocher says about nice guys....

I'm going to assume here. So you are saying she is a bisexual? I can relate to what you said. However, I don't think Ruka is bisexual. From the (sex-change)website that she looked at, the way she have to waits to use the female dressing room, and her reaction to certain situations doesn't convince me she is a bisexual. To me, Ruka is gay and could be gender-questioning.

I think she may be sexually alienated. She doesn't really understand her sexuality and Michiru is just someone she's grown attached to.

I wouldn't call her bisexual either. I just think she'd love anyone in Michiru's position whether they be male or female. So... she kinda breaks the kinsey scale?

There are a number of reasons why she could've avoided being in the dressing room at the same time with the other girls. For instance, she could be uncomfortable changing in front of people, which is perfectly normal (I'm the same way). Maybe she had some past trauma with someone harassing her in a changing room before. As far as the website goes, she could have some terminal illness that we don't know about yet. But again, this is all just speculation and in the air, so everything can go any way.

Like she already had a sex change before and fell in love with Michiru unexpectedly and is now thinking of changing back? :hehe:

Wow.. that would be totally crazy if she used to be a guy... it might explain the sensitivity around the changing room. Or better... she is a guy who dresses like a girl and is on hormone therapy!

The only prob is that even though Michiru hadn't seen 'her' for a long time, she still recognized her in the bus station in the first ep.

Well that's pretty true.It can't be that she had the change before she went to school, can it? :nut: How old are the characters?

I kinda wish he did. Maybe then he'd stop wearing pink capris.

So I temporarily stopped my Proposal Daisakusen viewing marathon to watch the latest episode with Suketeru's subs and I have to say, I enjoyed watching this one. Everyone gets a bit of airtime from Ruka to Ogurin, and we get some more background info about Sousuke. The guy still comes off as a psycho, but I can understand it better than the previous three episodes.

Spoiler — click to revealThe relationship between Takeru and Ruka evolves just a little more, though I feel what she said to him at the bar came off as well-intentioned, but hurtful as well. Just as Ruka is done saying she's not scared of Takeru, the shot is focused on him and he's not exactly smiling, more like he's taken aback by the comment. I think it plays into him possibly being gay, that Ruka doesn't see him as a guy in the sense that he's attracted to girls in a way that he'll end up doing things like Ruka's motocross coach did to her.

Any reason why you chose those over Seri's?

Personal preference really; I like Suketeru's subtitle format as it just looks better to me on screen. I had both subs for the first three episodes, and I just found Suketeru's to be visually pleasing, though there is nothing particularly wrong with Seri's. :victory:

Spoiler — click to revealHmm, I didn't read his reaction that way... I thought his reaction was that of muted happiness in that he's gained her confidence as a friend...
