Lol, "random" would describe the books as well, AD! To give you some idea of the high quality of the manga, in one story, a potshot was taken at SMAP.
Anyway, it's time for me to go to bed now! Good night AD. :D
Keps, you are really way ahead of me now in Oblivion. I haven't put much time into it recently. I got totally engrossed in Final Fantasy X-2 and beat it the other day. Even though it seemed that I did almost everything, I only got 98% completion.
So, I started Magna Carta: Tears of Blood. Nice graphics. Compared to the battle system in X-2, the one in MC seems somewhat slow. Still I'm only a few hours into it, so we'll see.

Whereas I'm still palying it as much as I can. I'm hardcore!

Never heard of this game. Another RPG? For PC? Ooh, I keep meaning to check whether my laptop will ever be able to cope with Morrowind.

Yup, it's another RPG. This one was made by a Korean game company and released by Atlus in the US for the PS2.
Atlus releases some really interesting games, but they have uber small print runs. Digital Devil Saga 1 and Nocturne are by Atlus and are now fairly hard to find. Odin Sphere came out just last year and some say that it can be hard to find in certain markets.

And Atlus is only gaining steam now because Persona 3 got some high praise from last year. Odin Sphere didn't seem to do as well, though.
Magna Carta: ToB. Wow. Of all the PS2 RPG out there.
I've played that one sometime ago. I have to say that that game is only for patient and tolerant RPGer. There are a lot of complaints on that one. And when most of the complaints on a game are about gameplay... it ain't pretty.
I won't be going into too much of it.
Anyway, master the Counter. It'll make the game go a lot faster. My favourite character would be Rianna. Don't take the blacksmith quest unless you're pretty sure you have all the ingredients. And again, master the counter. You can beat the game without Combo but you have to learn how to counter.

Thanks for the tips!
Well, the last 4 RPGs I finished were Persona 3 (non-FES version), Digital Devil Sagas 1 and 2, and recently Final Fanatsy X-2, and MC: ToB was one on my shelf that I haven't played yet. I think I've had it for almost 2 years maybe?
I do see what you mean by the gameplay. After the highly tactical battles in the DDS games, and the fun ATB/dressphere system of FF X-2, the battles in MC are very slow by comparison. (After I got over the Charlie's Angels feel of X-2, I actually enjoyed it quite a bit. Although I found out that 2 Dark Knights spamming Darkness with an Alchemist tossing Mega-Potions every round is pretty unbeatable. At the end, 2 girls would hit all enemies for 5000 damage each and get healed every turn.)
The camera is what pisses me off most about MC. At times you can't see the enemy, even on the battle field, until you stumble into them. And it's a bit weird that 2 characters are just standing there in combat while you attack with the third. You are correct about having to be a patient RPGer.
The graphics are nice although the girls are at bit, well, you've seen.... I figure I'll stick it out to the end, as I try to finish every RPG I start.
sRPGs aside, these are the jRPG series that I love: Shadow Hearts, FF, Grandia, Wild ARMs, SMT, Suikoden, Xenosaga, Growlanser.
DDS1 and 2 was superb!! Ah, the sweet Press Turn system. Fought the ultimate optional bosses yet? Whew, they are FUN!
FFX-2 gets quite a bashing from fans but I do like it. Catnip and Trigger Happy is a great setup. 9999 per shot! And how many shots Trigger Happy has again? It makes the Via Purifico bosses a joke. To quote Rikku: I'll kick you in the spleen!
In ToB, There's the slow detect mode. Grandia Xtreme has something similar called the "ready mode" but is much smoother. Grandia's eggs fusion is much better than the Talisman combination. Shadow Hearts was better at the "ring type" system. The chi system is a nice idea but unfortunately the execution fails. ToB has so much potential. Alas, the implementation falls short of expectation.
Camera is bad. Loading time is bad. Fortune telling isn't worth the time. Limited respawning. Restricted free-roaming. Insufficient monster variation. Sidequest almost non-existent. Uninteresting dungeons. Trust building is bleh. Money is scarce. Bad VA. Bad song...
And speaking about songs, I do like Danger by Etro Anime in DDS1 and Real Emotion by Koda Kumi in FFX-2 opening. The japanese version of Real Emotion is much better! Though they still can't beat Chou (Fatal Frame 2), Koe (Fatal Frame 3), Getsurenka (Shadow Hearts: Covenant), Melodies of Life (FFIX) and Startin' (Onimusha: Dawn of Dream) in my favourite game song list.
By the by, I do like Kim Hyung Tae's female character design. "Voluptous" = yum! Come to think of it, that was the main motivation for me to play the game up to the end, hehe (I'm a guy, btw). The story is decent enough too.

Lol Madoka, you and your RPGs. Do you play any other type of game? :hehe: :D
I've seen a review of Odin Sphere in a magazine I read. The mag loved it, but reading about it, it sounded a bit complicated for me.
I'm doing the Dark Brotherhood questline now in Oblivion. It makes me feel a bit funny, but I like that the game seems to make this line quite humorous.

Hehe, actually I started gaming on PCs many years ago. Back then, I pretty much played first person shooters, like Half-Life and the like. Back then many games had the Y-axis reversed like a flight simulator so I got used to that. Then, games flipped it back to what your desktop does and no longer gave you the option of inverting the Y-axis, so I had to retrain myself. I ended up doing that in Morrowind as you could walk around without getting attacked.
My interest in JRPGs started in 1997 when Eidos ported over Final Fantasy VII to the PC. I remember mucking around with my video drivers as the game did not work properly out of the box. Then Final Fantasy VIII got ported over and I thought it would be a trend. I waited patiently, but no FF IX. Then the PS2 came and no FF X for the PC.... Or FF X-2. So one day, I went online to see how many JRPGs there were for the PS2 and was amazed at what was out there.
The next day I picked up a slimline, Final Fantasy X, X-2, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, and Xenosaga I and never looked back. I don't think I've played much on the PC since then. I think Oblivion was the last PC game I've purchased.
I don't play shooters on the PS2 as I can't aim with the controller. I'd still rather do mouse and keyboard for shooters.
Odin Sphere is not that complicated really. I think you'd do fine.

Besides Final Fantasy and SMT, I've also played Grandia II and III, as well as the whole Xenosaga series. I loved the Xenosaga series and still hope they'll put out Episode 4 for the PS3. I know that's me dreaming but....
I took on 2 of the optional bosses in DDS, and they were killers! I didn't try any more after that.... The press turn system is a great battle system, but not one for the uninitiated, I think.
I never got the Catnip accessory as I did the "Shave the Hypello" side mission. I like the Via Purifico dungeon as a way to let players keep going past the main story line. I think I ended up with Yuna at level 74, and the final boss wasn't much of the problem by then. Some of the battle comments of the girls were very well done. I like that Rikku comment, but love when Paine says "I hate this dress sphere." when she's a songstress. Also when Yuna goes "Give me a Y", Rikku goes "give me an R", and Paine goes "Stop that!" I have to admit that a few of the minigames seemed a bit tacked on, but overall X-2 is not as bad as some would suggest.
I also think Tears of Blood had a lot of potential. It just didn't come together as well as it could have. So far I do like the story. And voluptuous is right. I don't think there's any adult girl in that world smaller than a "D".
No matter how much I miss Kosy, I have little faith that there'll be Ep 4. Xenosaga seems like it had reached it's finale in Sprach Zarathustra. The closure was nice and a few of the stuffs that I'd been wondering in Ep 1 and Ep 2 came together and explained.
Ah, I understand about SMT. It'll take some serious powergaming to easily take down the regular optional bosses, nNot to mention that someone familiar from Nocturne in DDS1 and Satan in DDS2.
You should try Shadow Hearts: Covenant after ToB. That is my number 1 favourite jRPG.
Also when Yuna goes "Give me a Y", Rikku goes "give me an R", and Paine goes "Stop that!"
Hahaha. That was pretty cute. I think I'll replay X-2 after I'm done replaying Grandia Xtreme. If only to remember what I've forgotten. And that Le-Blanc massage game :hehe:
It's funny that I love FFX Blitzball but not X-2. Must be because the lack of control. Gunners Gauntlet is not bad. Chocobo breeding is simpler than FF7. Sphere Break lacks depth compared to FF8 Triple Triad. But at least I like it more than Tetra Master in FF9.
Now, the lightning tower control calibration. Ha! :argh: I broke one controller due to Rikku's final tower. I had thought I'd never throw my controller to the wall again after Tidus's Sigil in FFX Int. Boy, was I wrong.

Maybe Tifa and Lulu can feel right at home in Efferia. :bonk:

Um, Y-axis *gulp* I really don't know about technical stuff.

I wonder...isn't PS2 the console with the most games? (Maybe I imgined I read that somewhere...)

I'm not one for shooters, so I dunno. Except, I have Timespiitters 2, which I think is a FPS.
I've never played on a PC, so I have nothing to compare the controllers for PS2 and 3 with.
Ooh, Odin Sphere really did sound complicated. It's probably just me being stupid.

Yeah, I'm gettting a tiny bit tired of Oblivion now. I'm almost done with the quests though, so that's probably why. I dread to think how many hours I've totalled so far.
I'm thinking of going back to Jak 3 on PS2 soon. That was lots of silly fun.
does anyone know if i can use mouse and keyboard for playing games on XBOX360? I can't get used with the damned controllers!!!!! :banghead: :banghead:
I've been using mouse and keyboard for ever and it's damn hard to use that controller as precisely and efficiently as them. I love many games that are only available on XBOX360.
What kind of games do you want to play with kb/mouse I wonder?
there are no ultra fast shooters like UT, all the other shooting games are highly playable IMO. might take time to get used to though.
I signed up for the Tom Clancy's End War beta (hope I get chosen), you can move troops and give all orders by mic

Well mostly for shooters and 3rd person shooters. Even if their not ultra fast its still quite hard to be precise  and actually hit a target. Anyway i am starting to get used to the controller, now what annoys me most is that i can't install the games on the HDD like for PCs. You have to put in the cd every time you want to play a game. What happens when a cd stops working and you've payed that incredible amount of money for it? :banghead:
