^^ I underestimate what telco providers here in the US provide for their subscribers, it's like a free for all. I heard from some of my friends in the phils that there is total monopoly over the limit of broadband speed.

of course...it's america not the third world...you can't compare the two....by a long shot....i even heard in the UK broadband sucks or is over the top expensive.

Dunno about that.

I pay $40.00/month for 512/128k with 12G downloads/month. Downloads between midnight and 12pm (ie 12 hours/day) are not counted in this, but there is a 30G limit in this period/month. If I go over 12G, I am charged $3.00/Gig

It's a pretty good deal, I am with Exetel and they are the best company to deal with. Never any problems.

my friend lived in London for the summer....while interning at Deutsche Bank.....he paid a little over 50 pounds for broadband....that's about 120 US Dolllars...that is the most bullsh*t thing i've heard.....

i pay 27 US dollars a month for 6Mb/sec down/650k up......no quota.

Okay, my DSL is up and running... :woot:

Turns out that a filter was attached on my phone line box... Once the tech snipped it off, my line was good to go. :D

That's off topic... Post it in the Pets thread. :beaten:

Now I've gotta make some system adjustments for the DSL (antivirus, firewall, etc.)...

We have a pets thread? It won't be of interest since i do not have a pet.. unless you count my hubby.

What software do you have with you to make you safe from the bad people in the dsl world?

I just have to reconfigure my antivirus program and enable the firewall... There's some other things too, but I can't remember them at the moment.

WOW, no suprisingly, Windows Sux.

i told my coworker to set a hotcorner to disable the screensaver, so it doesn't interupt a process, but there isn't an option for that in the default screensaver.

Weak sauce i tell ya.

I haven't heard hotcorners in screensavers since After Dark.

Haha. Unlikely, since the spindles have rusted themselves shut.

The spindles you use are so old that they're metal...wow, what a revelation. :nut:
