Just canceled my dialup service... Aghhh: they try to sell you other stuff and/or keep you on dialup for a reduced price "just in case" the DSL goes out... :bleh:

Good thing I did it before my next billing cycle on 10/2...

Racer, I'm assuming Verizon is just like us, if the DSL does go down, tech support can provide you with free dial-up until it comes back up. I guess you dial-up provider "forgot" about that [/list:u]

Not sure, but I'll have to inquire about that... Thanks for the suggestion. :victory:

Japan: NTT Group Building 10-Tbit/s Backbone
The cost of offering residential fiber connections
Posted 2006-09-29 17:17:43 by Karl
Japanese incumbent NTT Group is finding that offering residential DSL and fiber is putting its current 1-Tbit/s backbone under strain, so the company has announced plans to build a 10-Tbit/s replacement. Compare this of course to the recent observations from an AT&T Research Labs VP, who stated the company's latest upgrade - a global OC-768 (40 Gbit/s) core - is rapidly filling up, and they'd need to move to a 100-Gbit/s backbone by the end of the decade.

Oh. My. Gas.

NTT offering a 100Mbit connection for $39.99??

OH. MY. GAS.
