Lol, nah my brain only has a memory capacity of 512MB RAM and a P4 2.6 Ghz of processing. :hehe:

Let's bring the basketball topic to the NBA thread. :)

You must be using Nero 6. I'm using this and it has a Nero Start Smart menu. Anyway, you are making a data disc, right? Before you start burning, there should be drop-down box where you can choose the writing speed. It should look like this

if i did that...i would be using tablet and pencil instead of emailing and doing the internet thing....amazingly i even figured out bittorent and posting up pix on here...lol

i think i will stick with the extra long wait, and deal with it....atleast i can back up my data and free up more hd space...20 min may seem long, but hey, it works...just thought i could shorten the time.....sucks that i cannot..oh well. :beaten:

thx anyways.

I see. That's strange, you are using the old settings of Nero. The default settings of Nero 6 should be Nero Express. Try looking at the applications in the Nero Start Smart menu and see if Nero Express is among the list of applications there.

There's different versions of Nero, even different cut-down versions, that ship with burners. The version I got with my home comp sucked big time, but the one at work was much better (So i took my work copy home).

I'm aware of that. ;) I just thought that me and qilver have the same version because from what I know, only Nero 6 and above have this Start Smart menu. Anyway, for qilver's reference, if your Nero Start Smart looks like this then you should see Nero Express among the list of applications on the applications bar located at the upper left of the menu.

i have no problems w/ Memorex, except they need to be burned at 4x or less, even the 16x discs.
the new Verbatims BLOW, especially the 16x... i'd buy the old stock 8x if i could find them. Those were rock solid.

Looks like your software and/or your burner aren't recognizing the 16X DVDs correctly... Odd, but these things happen.

What brand burner do you have?

You should download and install DVD Info... It'll read the specs off of your burner and DVD... That way you'll know if you burner recognizes the DVD correctly or not.

Have you tried Supermediastore? I bought 100 8X Verbatims a couple of months ago and they were on sale... Hmm, maybe they were dumping the 8X stock... :headscratch:

Let us know what brand and model number your DVD burner is. I've seen issues where they needed a firmware update to properly recognize 16x discs (even if you can't burn at that speed)....

Just to let you know, I never, ever, burn at 16x. 8x is as fast as I'm willing to go.

i nver burn 16x and up too! i always burn at 8 or 4x cuz of i dont want the quality to mess up xD
