Take it from a pro certified by the evil empire:

Stay away from Vista until at the first service pack comes out.

Driver support is minimal at best, non-existant commonly.

Hardware requirements are high. A more reasonable tested RAM functional minimum is 1 GB, 2 GB would be more standard.

I don't get the commotion...

It's all about common sense: WAIT 'TIL SERVICE PACK 2.

It's like a car: you NEVER buy the first year model (Japanese cars excepted), 'cause it's bound to have newbie problems...

Spent the day talking computer with my uncle: he wants to build a new PC...

Intel Core 2 Duo
2GB DDR2 PC6400 RAM
256MB PCI Express Video Card
250GB SATA150 HD

Why he needs a Core 2 Duo and/or 2GB of RAM, I'll never know. :headscratch:

Seems like a stern system!

The more memory, the better the computer. As for the Core 2 Duo....with my research, it's the new thing - a solid CPU, with a good reputation!

LOL... He saves his gaming for the court: he plays tennis.

And he's 72 years old.

Like just about any person buying electronics, he's buying what he wants, not what he needs....

Never too old to start. Although I doubt my 77-year old dad is going to: My mum has a comp, but he won't even touch it.
