Oooh, that's not very long...

Ehh, they're not very pricey at around $30, though that buys a pretty damn good lunch in Japan, ne? :beaten:

Haha...true! Yeah I didn't have it very long but I burned quite a few discs on it....having said that it probably should have lasted longer. Oh well.

Stupid work comp has randomly shut down 4 times today - not long after being repaired and upgraded. So I think i'll be getting a new unit, with 4G ram, quad core processor etc :fingerscrossed:

Dayem, mate you've been having a spat of computer problems lately...I hope your new machine treats you right.

I recently had to change the power supply, the video card, and reformat the drive and reinstall Windows for my personal computer. Now I have to get a new DVD burner.

The joys of comps. :grumble:

I've now hooked up my lappy - with wireless mouse and keyboard, and LCD monitor. I can have things running separately on 2 monitors - very cool!

Nice! :applaud:

The good thing about changing my video board...is that I got one that has 512MB of video RAM upgraded from 128MB...but perhaps more importantly since I purchased a new HDTV....the computer video card supports 1080 resolution so I can use it to display that res on my TV.

That's cool... HD video files, anyone? :hehe:

Haha...they better pump the internet bandwith for us residential users first!

Anyone ever used the P2P programs WinNY, Share or Perfect Dark? They are developed by Japanese and mostly used by Japanese, so I guess they have a high chance of getting files you can't get elsewhere...

I know this, man! When I used the internet at the hotel, that shiet was so fast it broke Einstein's law of Special Relativity.

Is it the same up and down? We have 24M/bit down, but it's only 1M/bit up :(

I found out what was wrong with my comp: It was the power supply. I should have it back in a few days. And i'm upping the ram to 1G: Should make encoding a bit quicker!

The power supply...that is what exactly what caused my computer woes.

Yeah... i've had numerous comps over the years, never had a power supply fail before. It is a 400W unit, which I didn't have a spare of at home :(

I'm having problems with some discs I got from someone. I've had this trouble before, so it's really annoying.

First of all, it can't play in my DVD player. Haven't checked my other player, so I can't confirm if it's just that particular one.

Also, I tried copying the disc using Nero, but both my desktop and laptop weren't able to copy them. It says "Can only copy first data track to a DVD" and it's only 3MB large. :grumble:

I'm wondering if there's a way I can copy or make the discs work somehow; maybe a different copying/burning program or something like that. I hope so because it's such a pain to ask for 5 replacement discs. :grumble:

Are they video DVD's? You might have to copy all the files on the DVD to your comp and re-burn them.

"Video DVD's"? How does that differ from the regular drama DVDs that I usually make copies of?

I think mine went bad because it was so full of dust bunnies...that tends to cause it to overheat I think.

Sorry, that's what I meant... as opposed to data DVD's :P
